I made an R2 for a friend of mine. He wanted an all black one. So i tried. After the first time he pulled it out, it gave the color has completely faded message. Ok i have heard this bug, so i wasn't too concerned.

Hear is the funny part. He then stored it, and called it out again. This time it was Dark Blue with Red slots.

Repeat. Green with Yellow, Gray with Red, Yellow with Blue, etc. He pulled it out about 8 times. Only once did it repeat the same color combo. Except for the first time, it never came out Black.It did come close once. A Dark Grey with Red slots.

It is kinda a cool bug. He like the idea of never knowing what color it was going to be. That was Wed night. I haven't been in game since. I will log on again tonight and make myself one.

Has this happend to anyone else?

I was at a starport last night and someone showed me an R2 that was doing the same thing.

have you had any luck coloring an R3?

This is in fact normal at the moment. The colors are completely random until the droid gets customized (painted) by a droid engineer. To some people this is a major pain in the ass, others love how they get surprised every time they call their little buddy.

Any DE selling an R-series droid *SHOULD* inform their customer that in order to have custom colours, they need to call the droid once they've bought it off the DE, type "/consent YOUR_DE_NAME" and then give the DE the colours they want ... the DE should then use a colourisation tool (with 2 charges) to paint the droid.

Once painted, it will no longer randomly change .. UNLESS you use the very first "white" colour in the customisation tool options. However, this will only result in the trim or frame randomly changing, depending on which part you chose to have the very first white block.

i found out that during custmerzation that if you pick the color then click on the color in the left box it sticks. then store the droid through the datapad menu not the radial dial. My r3 when called now doesn't change colors any more.

TheygotFritz, the colour you chose during customisation is irrelevant. It doesn't change anything .. basicaly the deed "forgets" any colour you already chose so the new droids randomly flick between colours as they haven't been set yet.

By painting the droid, it then sets the colours and ANY colour EXCEPT the very first white block will stick.

I discovered this bug too last night. I called my droid, he was yellow. Thus I called him "Goldy" since he shines gold in bright light. I called up him an hour later, he was green! I thoughtI was just going crazy, I store and call again, he's blue now, then red, then black, then white! What I found funny was he never returned yellow after 10 tries! LOL !

What sucks about this (and always sucked) about being a Droid Engineer is that it's making our business really bad. Try selling a droid to someone and having them asking for their money back cause it's not what they wanted. Either cause they can't have their own customized colour, or cause you weren't able to craft R serie droids, battery consumption is too much, etc...

Droid Engineering is not a business skill, it's a skill for yourself to have fun with! Cause selling droids to someone lately just makes more angry customers than satisfied ones!
