I made a surgical droid with 2 general socket modules (far as I know, this is not an exploit, at least until a DEV says it is). One GSM had 2 medical modules for 110 medic rating and a food/chem crafting station. The other module had 2 storage modules (for 10 items) and a data module.
Well, the resulting droid lets you heal wounds and has the food/crafting functionality, but neither the data nor the storage seems to be there. This is a conversational droid, does that have anything to do with it? or is it like one of those stupid bugs we have like we can't have data and storage at the same time?
Also, the droid has a 'You are dismissed' option right there in the radial menu. Didn't they remove this?

I think you got hit with "Conversational droids don't really offer extra radial menu options".
That pretty much covers the non-functional repair modules we mostly know about, and also seems to cover your problems with item and data storage.

I don't think that is entirely true...
I built a LE-repair droid yesterday with generic crafting station and item storage and the extra option for droid inventory popped up right away.
It can be that you can't cluster up item and data storage in the same cluster.
I've had the same problem when making a DZ70 with an item/data-cluster.
