Hello persons,

I don't know if anyone has noticed before, but i just accedentally found out that inside R series droids in the game, are two manipulator arms inside?

Do this to understand what i mean:

Take out a R series droid and stand in front of it. Angle the game camera so the R unit is in fromt of you, then slowly zoom in to your character As you pass through the droid and the droid body becomes invisible, you'll notice...

- the folded up center leg inside the droid, We all know about this...but...

- a left folded up ratchet tool arm, just where R2D2's would be folded up like in the movies

- a right rotery saw arm also folded up, like the one used in ROTJ to get out of the Ewok net.

As i have never seen any animations of these arms coming out and being used in any manner, i'm just wondering if they will ever be used. Or perhaps this was an abandoned idea the DEV's had designed and programed into the game?

Now I have seen a R series unit or two NPC fixing things in starports, but i don't remember any mechanical arms sticking out of the body. Just a laser beam or something.

Try this out and tell me what you guys think. (i think it helps if the droids body is white colored, as the retractable arms are grey in color...)

If you kill them, the arms splay out before they topple . The art department did an amazing job of providing models and animations. Unfortunately, droids and the Droid Engineering profession hasn't been designed yet.

Kill one and see the secrets in all thier glory. I don't think for one second that this is new, or heralding a feature. It means someone built a great model with some nice kinematics and animations that nobody has figured out what to do with yet. Well, besides die.

Doesn't mean they couldn't do something with it, though.

Ah here it is... managed to get a shot the moment before it fell over.

DEAD DROID

I find it so sad that there are so many details in droids/droid engineering that has just been forgotten.

What about those drink serving R2's that are scattered here and there throughout Tatooine. Shouldn't WE be able to make that?

There's a couple of starports around the galaxy where you'll see, in one of the lounge areas, an R series repairing a terminal. He has one of his arms out and 'zaps' the terminal peroidically. This is not new to the game, however.

The only time i see dead droids, they just flop on their side and croak with no display of arms and panels.

I guess i was just hoping that, lets say, you use the repair function on a droid onto another droid, you'd see the little arm whip out and touch the other droid, as the animation and modeling is already there. All you see right now is the droid rolling over to the other droid and a "repaired" appears over the repairing droids head as it'smoving to the other droid.

The modeling is there, it'll be cool to see the code implimented for the animation.

Or even how about the droid being repaired opens all the doors on it's body as seen in the "dead droid" pic? It's a shame you can only see that by killing it...
