Thread: Question about Cluster change

I've heard rumors that they are gonna change the way clusters work. So you can't place clusters in general slots. Well, I'm currently mass producing clusters in my factory. So what I'm wondering is if those clusters are gonna stop working in droids without cluster slots.

Im not sure if Ive understood your question...
What DEVs are going to change (I think) is the bug that allow you to put a General Cluster Module into a Socket Cluster Module

If you have been putting General Clusters into Module slots you have been exploiting...

PS: Yeah , I know... there are still people that does not think this is a bug... I think it is.

Be safe - just don't put clusters where they aren't supposed to go

You can actually use this as a selling point, and are guaranteed to have happy customers if they do retroactively fix the cluster bug...

I certainly hope they will fix this.
While I used this feature (some say it is a exploit) sometimes, it is generally not a good idea. It makes "good" droids far to common and cheap. Why should a DE craft a ADV droid when he can just use a few stacked module cluster in a basic chassis to archieve the same result?

Ok, one more time for those of you just tuning in. There are currently two issues with the General Droid Module Socket Clusters (GDMSC). The 1st is that you can stack them. This results in an unlimited number of modules in any droid. The devs have said twice that this is a bug and will be fixed in the upcoming patch.

The second issue is that you can put GDMSCs in regular module sockets. Everytime we ask for clarification on this, the devs respond with the answer to issue number one instead. This is a serious hot button issue on this forum. It comes up about once a week and, prior to the whole DH thing, was probably the single most debated topic on this forum. Officially, we don't know if it is a bug or not. We don't know if it's going to work after the next patch or not. We don't know what will happen to droids made like this. In short, we just don't know. Welcome to the wonderful world of Droid Engineering. Have a seat, fasten your seatbelt, and please keep all your extremities inside the vehicle at all times.

<S> we should just relabel this forum to the same old argument forum.

Cluster stacking is definately going away.

Its unknown whether Cluster in General is going away, and while it may be an exploit, its possible it is not an exploit, but like everything else, the devs are unclear about it. If it disappears in Patch 6 we'll know if its an exploit or not.

If it doesnt disappear, then ya, you're screwed. So finish building before the patch.

I highly doubt they will be removing any droids from the game. Every issue that has been an "exploit" has been dealt with in days. 8 months of droid construction is hardly likely to disappear.

Well, you might consider it abuse, use, wrong...you might not.

Sell all the general socket clusters to Novice DE to help them get some better sells to customers. Bad thing is, if they don't use them, they will be in the same boat.

To me, it is fairly obvious that clusters are intended to go into sockets labeled cluster only, and non-clusters are supposed to go into the non-cluster slots.

With the apparant dev ignorance on droids at times, their slow response times, etc, I sometimes wonder if they lost the person who was responsible for droids along the wayside somewhere... either the designer, or the coder...
