Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.

In my opinion we need three things to make this game what it needs to be. Every magazine I read and every customer that comes into my store 90% of the time says "Star Wars Galaxies? (insert derrogatorry comment here)." One of the new Computer Gaming magazines that shows a Starwars Battlefield 1942 mod ends with the quote "Yet Another Reason to stay away from Star Wars Galaxies." So here's how I view it.

We need more Stars (Space Expansion)

We need more Wars (Imperial Crackdown, battlefield revamp)

--- these two are in the works, nice job devs ---

But everyone needs to have a droid. Everywhere in the movies people use droids. They do various tasks for their master, we all know this. Creatures, on the other hand, require a fine level of training to handle. they are living breathing beings (i know I know, A.I... but let's not get into that). People need to be able to use droids for their own uses. Sure having 2 Droideka's following around a Novice Marksman is overkill, but if he has the money to spend, and can find a black market DE to make him the droid, by all means he should have one.

If I want to buy a gun, I'm sure I can find someone to sell it to me, illegally perhaps, and it should be no different in SWG. We have smugglers, don't we?

I understand the problems with all of the suggestions, but SWG is NOT star wars without Stars, Wars, and Droids. I apologize for the incoherent thoughts, I really meant for them to come together better, but the point is:

Making a specific class to handle Droids means90% of the people won't be able to use the droids they want, so they're less likely to call a droid in the first place. And if people aren't calling droids, then it breaks rule #3 and we don't have a Star Wars Game.

I've been waiting quite some time, and I plan on keeping it going. I hope we come to a timely conclusion, devs, and make this game feel like Star Wars again.... (or for the first time)

Hehe, we could always rename the game to something like...Futurama Online. Then the Devs can make whatever messed up universe they want.

RMN is right. I've so far been thinking mainly along the lines of versatility and balance, but the true Star Wars feel requires lots of people to have droids. Droids need to be all over the place. Not every droid needs combat potential, but there needs to be a good droid for every profession, not just medics and crafters.

So, let me get this straight: To advance my character, I have to give up my current abilities?

Hehe I may have fallen a few pages but I got 5 stars! Thanks for the agreement, guys.

I just want to make droids for the galaxy. Whatever my customers want. If the Empire doesn't want them to have Droidekas, well, I'll have to sell them in secret I guess. It's like the real world. If you're willing to shell out the cash and have the connections, you can get anything you want.

I just want the DE profession to be rewarding, is all.

They are not proposing that only droids can be used by droid handlers, only combat droids.

I have been on board with other solutions but I see now what the Devs are looking at.

For one, Make more droids, give us more reasons to sell droids to all professions..

Now add some more combat droids, and yes a class dedicated to the art of programing and controling different CL levels of combat droids. Combat droids only make up a small percent of the droid population in the Star Wars films... Did we see R2 D2 take out an army of STs...?

Next, fix all of the bugs in our existing droids and make them more appealing. Give repair droids the ability to repair, conversation droids the ablity to converse.. Add entertainer modules for entertainers to heal BF in BFE.

This will bring out more droids, this whole discussion on to have or not to have a Droid Handler class is not going anywhere... I think personally the Devs have already done it...

So lets make sure they do it right the first time.....

The problem goes much, much deeper than combat droids, that is true. You ask if we saw R2-D2 take out an army of ST's. We did not. But we have seen him slice and hack computers, make in-flight repairs, attach pieces of C3-P0 back together, serve drinks, smuggle a lightsaber (and launch it to Luke just when needed), wrestle with a Jedi Master (Mine! Mine! Or help you I will not.), and even fly to the rescue of a certain Senator.

The point is, droids are capable in the films. They will not make droids capable in this game. People whine about balance and so forth whenever you suggest anything close. The only thing we can "get away with" are droids that add a modifier to something you can do already. If they took droids out of the game completely, it wouldn't change the game enough to make a difference.

The combat droidswere a hope because this was something that the majority of players participates in. These droids could be somewhat capable. But as we can see, not even that is an option. Because it isn't about the DROID, it is about the player's precious skill points. Droids are not considered as NPC's, they are considered as tools. Powerups, even. If they were floating sparks of energy, it would be the exact same thing. It is a graphic for a portable bubble.

I was naive. I thought in beta that eventually they would make droids... well, droids. Now it is too late to change anything drastically or dramatically. Because people are used to the way it is. They don't want to change the rules, because they have found the best way around the current rules.

We need more modules, not only combat droids... Slicer module, Entertainment modules and others. Not only do they need more modules but they need to make the modules work.

Medical modules have been bugged since day one...

Devs please fix the broken stuff before giving us shiny objects to discuss on the boards...
