Timeline.

SWG released: DE career unfinished. Mature SW fans go for it anyway because they love the ‘Star Wars’ ethos of droids. Much work done to help DEV’s pin down the bugs and issues.

6 months later: DE career still unfinished. MDE’s continue to pass accurate, concise information on to DEV’s relating to bug issues. Small, usually flawed, patches are applied as DEV’s become available between building ‘More Things To Kill’ (nightsisters, warren etc.) and ‘More Ways To Kill Things’ (pets, revamped pets, nerfed pets). Community gets bored and start to wonder what it would like added in the future. Droideka’s perhaps at Master would be nice, many, many ideas for utility droids. A few examples: survey droids, harvester droids, power droids that power harvesters, repair droids for buildings (and the new vehicles) med and entertainer droids, vendor droids, advert droids… list goes on.

November ’03: DEV’s proclaim January will see the major droid publish. DE’s finally excited that all hard work will pay off.

January ’04: Becomes clear DEV’s are not fixing DE profession or adding much wanted utility droids or even care what DE’s think at all. DEV’s have created new plan for ‘More Things To Kill’ and ‘More Ways To Kill Things’; absolutely nothing to do with DE players, just happens that they will be the ones building them.

NOW: Little if anything has changed for DE’s or at DE’s request, SWG has moved on around them and some of these changes have/will impact but basically, noone is listening and nobody cares.

Actually, I do feel a lot better having got that off my ample bosom.

I’ll be happy to sit and make great, huge combat droids for others to use (I was never interested in a hybrid combat class) and just soak up the cash.

All I’d really like is for DE’s to get some of the things we keep asking for, this Droid Invasion is clearly more ‘for the community’ and not for the DE’s. When will it be our turn? My greatest fear is that after the Droid Invasion the DEV’s might go ‘right, that’s the DE’s done for another year’.

Rant over now, I’ll just get back to building stuff.

of course, it doesn't matter one bit. they still push forward with garbage.
