Thread: Interplantary Survey Droids...

Has anyone looked at whether these driods are even viable based on resource cost, including the survey tool, and time involved.

I sent out my first 5 driods to 5 different plants on a gas survey mission, got 5 emails back list 3 gas types none of course what i wanted, now with the exception of the distant plants the travel costs dont seem very prohibtive based on some of the charge per use I have been seeing for these driods, and as a follow up once your on planet you can do all th4 survey tests and not lose you super lucky rabbit foot based survey tool.

I guess I was expecting a lot more like maybe some wp of concentrations, and what i got well was quite frankly naff?

The concept of course is great but, its seems so half assed, like its got potential but zero substance, Anyway really looking for some opinions on this just seems to be a fat waste of time, ultimately you still have to go to the planet, find the resource set down the rigs and comeback, seems to be adding a whole new level of overhead that does bugger all on the return...

I think thats a good idea...do these droids send back ratings for the resources they find. I have 5 but I havent used them yet...

Can I ask a question? Why do people expect this? Finding waypoints for harvesters is part of being a artisan/miner.

More detailed stats, I can understand. We're pushing for that. But why in the world would you expect a droid to return a waypoint to high concentrations? I mean, that's part of the game mechanic and the challenge of surveying. If it were that simple, a lot of the challenge of crafting would be taken out of the game.

The way I think this should work is:

Email:
Carbonite Steel name of ore then stats, then on this planet it ranges from 10%-99% concentrations.
Duralimum Aluminum name of ore then stats, then on this planet it ranges from 44%-88% concentration.

This would still need survey skills to find the concentration level for harvesters, but would generate a value to the survey droids, you would know what planets to go to for the best results.

I just want the stats of the resource, IMO concentration is to much. I have tried using these but with SWGcraft.com, its still more usefull than waiting on these droids even with the lag of SWGcrat.

I guess it depends on how much someone is charging for them... If you figure 1k per charge (quite a bit more than I charge but less than some others do) then I'd say your comming out ahead. You factor in shuttle costs (sometimes less than that 1k, sometimes more), plus the fact that you don't spend half the day waiting at starports. In that time you could be making more droids, stocking vendors, checking harvesters on the planet your on, starting factory runs, running missions, or just hanging out with your friends. I'd say that time is priceless, but if you really wanted to run the numbers in the half hour we'll say you spend checking on the planets by hand (lets assume you hit 5 planets in that half hour, not sure what an actual average would be but this sounds good to me). In a half hour you can easily sell 1-2 droids (depending on your prices, 30-100k), Assuming no combat skills you could run 12 delivery missions (assuming a full 5 minute wait between each shuttle) for about 7200c, If you've got some good combat skills you could do 4+ destroy missions (8-40k depending on skills/location). I'd say any of these would pretty well cover the cost of the droid, even figuring you'd still have to make one shuttle trip to check stats if you find a resource your interested in.

These are also VERY GOOD to tell when a resource shifts, a big time saver!
