Hi there,
Im Nosaj on Shadowfire and am curious about attack droids. What kind of droid should I look to get to replace a pet. I would like the best one available if possible and I have a few questions....
1. Do I have to be a certain lvl to control this droid?
2. Can it learn attack and follow commands like a pet can?
3. Can it heal itself? I have heard rumors----What is the longevity typically....
4. What lvl of pet would a good droid compare to?
5. What should I expect to pay for a top of the line droid?

Depend of what best mean to you.
If you want best damage dealer : probot
If you want best tank : LE
If you want medium of both : R serie, Adv R3 doing the most damage with 6 modules and HAM about 4.4K, Adv R4 does about half damage (3 modules) and has about 4K HAM

3. yes, slowly when put in datapad, or faster with 1 or more auto-repair module in it. auto-repair eat batteries, heal about 10 dmg per module per 10 seconds.
4. no clue, dunno pet at all, but adv probot with 5 combat module is CL 19
5. depend of your server and the DE you find, I'm on farstar and depending of model, between 12K for basic low level DZ70 to 60K for adv R3 but other DE on my server are cheaper (much).

if you get to corellia, i am in Independence and have some probots with 3184ham(not 100% sure since i am at work.) and some good r3's and le tankbots.
I have been stocking my vendor with all kinds of droids as of late. I also have crate after crate of arakyd seekers for bh's. 9500 for a crate of 5.

No, anyone can control one

Yes. it can it uses the "program" menu unless it is the LE Repair then you converse with it like a Faction pet

Yes. with Auto-Repair mods max is 20 points of HAM per 10 sec Per mod. you can put 5 in an R3 and still have it attack also the Auto repair mod Halfs the life of your batteries
4. What lvl of pet would a good droid compare to?
Around a CL 18. HAM on an ADVLE is 5970 at 99%, on an ADV R3 4477, on an ADV Probot 3455 or so these are all 99% with 20% resits across all Damage types with AP0(don't let the 40% exsamine fool you 20% is max)
5. What should I expect to pay for a top of the line droid?
As I am not on your surver I would not know for shure however from reading the boards Between 20k-100kl depending on what you want and the DE. My Recomondation is if you want it to do the damage for you get a Probot. If you kill fast and want most the XP get an LE Repair with 1 combate and 2 autorepair mods. If you want a Full on tank that does little damage then get an r3 with 1 attack mod and 5 repair mods.
one last thing your droid does not just heal itself but also heals all "friendly" Droids inside a 30m Radius, so if you and 2 friends go out with 3 R3s set-up for max healing/attacking then you could consevably(if theDE maxed the repair mods) hits a total repair power of 300 points every 10 secs.
