Being a DE in this game right now is tough as you all know. But sometimes things happen that make all that grinding worth it.

The greatest moment in my career as a DE happened the other night in Bestine on Bria.

One of the dancers in the cantina was talking to a customer about needing a Probot for a bodyguard. I don'tuse my DE tag(I go by Master Artisan) so I piped up saying that I was DE.While explaining droids to her, another patron asked if I could makemedical droids. I'm only 1/1/1/3 right now, so I can't make the best droids, but they're decent and I sell them affordably. I showed him a couple models, the surgical and the LE Repair droids, and he decided on the LE Repair droid.

I didn't have crates of components with me, so I went to work building each component by hand, even the sarcastic personality chip.When I was done I gave it to him, explained a bit about droids and he was on his way. I saw him a little while later running around town with his new droid. "Hey, check out my new droid!" He was healing wounds as he walked around town, showing off his new toy.

That one moment made being a DE worth it.

Yeah, for all the problems, and they are many, folks really like their droids, and are generally very happy to get them, I find.

I actually have a screenshot of some random person saying to another in Coronet "Aren't Droids Great?!" after pulling out his and using it ot heal someone.

I'd post the screenshot on here but he misspelt droid as 'driod' so it doesn't look that good

I'm thinking of putting together a kind of screen-shot collage of all the wonderful things folks have said about my droids (and occasionally about me, too!). I tend to hit that PrintScrn button whenever I get a nice /tell from someone about how they love their droid, use it all the time, etc...

We have a running chat channel for DE's on FarStar and being the 2nd Master on the server, I usually get a lot of questions about components and general tips for up and coming DE's, as well as frustrations about resource needs and cash flow problems. These are things any struggling DE knows all too well.

One of the most rewarding things to see is the first time you tag up Master and hit somewhere like Coronet, Theed, or Bestine and get that 6-way /tell Hell of customers. It's both overwhelming and Exhilerating. I don't think there's another profession out there where just making master moves you from near worthless to invaluble in a matter of moments.

As a Master DE, one of the most rewarding things to see is another Novice make Master and realize just how rare a profession we are (at least on FarStar).

Every time I think of dropping DE I just look at my little (and not so little) creations. I didn't kill it's mama and put it on a leash to be saddled! I made it with my own two virtual toon hands and breathed life into it's little mainframe! When others exprerience the joy of these mechanical critters they want more, and we'll give them more as soon as we can.

they way you guys describe this i just wanna sit and grind away and hit novice de its all i wanna do is be a de the first time i picked up the game and started looking through the manual i went ooh bounty hunter, woah de i can build droids and stuff like that.
