Thread: Reason for lack of Droid Content in SWG accidently revealed by Thunderheart today

It has occured to many Star Wars fans and subsequent SWG know-it-all's that Star Wars Galaxies (SWG)lacked a key part of the Star Wars universe, commonly known as "Droids". What little selection ofdroids the game boasted, the fans had already downplayed and criticised due to their lack of content and abilities.

Many threw speculation on what the reasons for this may be, but all doubt was tossed out the window this morning when Kurt "Thunderheart" Stangl, Assistant Community Relations Manager, issued a statement to the press and accidently let slip important information regarding the existance of droids.

When questioned about the R2 unit's apparent lack of functions he replied "Sadly we didn't have much control over this. It was a decision made from the lucas camp based on the current issues between George Lucas and R2-D2". Clearly realising he had let out too much information, Kurt Stangl refused to answer any further questions.

Intrigued by this snippet, we infiltrated the Lucas camp to find out what these current issues could have been. We sadly couldn't find Mr Lucas but was fortunate to get a brief interview with Kenny Baker, the man everyone thought was behind R2-D2. "I have no issues with George" He replied "But R2 does." Clearly baffled by this answer, we probed further. "No, I am not R2-D2. I am just his stage double. Its a mistake EVERYONE makes" Mr Baker fused. "R2 is a big film star and deserves all the credit for the success of the original trilogy. Its the problem he currently has with George, since he isn't getting mentioned at all!"

Later that day, we managed to get an interview with the man that played C-3PO, Anthony Daniels, and was amased to find a similar story. "Yes, R2 and I have many issues with George Lucas. He has taken all the credit for OUR success, and as such we have both gone on strike."Eager to find out more, we asked if this strike was related to the Droid issues with Star Wars Galaxies. "R2 holds the license for droids in Star Wars, so until Mr Lucas apologises to him you won't be seing many droids in ANY of the games. Oh my!"

Loaded with this new information, we managed to find a few minutes with Kevin "Q-3PO" O'Hara, SWG Community Relations Manager. "That is completly obsurd. R2-D2 does not exist! George Lucas has told us this many times." Mr O'Hara told us. Though it was clear in his tone that he was just repeating a company line and not telling us the truth. Something that became more apparent as the interview went on when weasked Kevin what he thought of R2 and Kenny Baker. "Don't get me wrong, they are both great actors. But they didn't play a very big role in Star Wars. However, the Rancor was superb! Carried the show you know."

However, SWG fans will be delighted to know that this "Droid Drought" may be soon at an end as George Lucas, in abroadcast this afternoon, appeared to begin his apologise towards the faimed Astromech. "I realise I based two movies solely around the destruction of droids recently, but the accusations about my hatred towards the little tin-cans is completly false. I'm very good friends with R2-D2 and owe a lot to him for making my films the success they are today. Thank you, R2!" Though it is expected that the development team of Star Wars Galaxies will also need to make a public apology toR2-D2 before any changes will be made to the game.

On a side note, there has still been no connection made between the outbreak of the SARS bug last year and the Star Wars Galaxies development team. However, due to the excessively bugged nature of the game local authorities are still continuing the investigation.

Greedo couldn't possibly have fired 3 shots at Han in 3 seconds... there must have been at least another bounty hunter nearby. /emote looks towards the grassy knoll.

It doesn't have to be so complicated as all that. It's perfectly obvious...

Greedo had two guns (1 you could see and one hidden).

It's Tattoine - that would be a Sand Dune, not a Grassy Knoll.

You forgot something very important- Greedo couldn't wield two weapons at once- duel wielding hadn't been implemented at that stage of the Galactic Civil War!

Greedo accidentally fat-fingered the F-key bar and did a suppression fire move. The Bothan chef off camera went down on one knee.

I'm not sure Abandon. But there used to be a time (before the Holo-Chasers arrived) that everyone here would have thought that was hilarious. I still think it is. Good job Abandon, keep up the good work. Sometimes amusing tid-bits like this is what keep us going. Any true DE would see that.
