Thread: Well, taking a weekend off was a good idea.

I didn't play, I didn't visit this board, and you know what? I feel a whole lot better now.

I just hope that the Thursday patch is smooth, it looks like being a Master DE may actually mean something, now that stacking will bring real tradeoffs. Here's to hoping that publish 7 will actually bring interesting new facets to the profession.

I just went back out over the road and have been away for 2 weeks (thats 20+ pages of Dev Tracker reading) and, suprisingly, I didn't miss it. I don't feel the need to complain about the still screwed up crafting professions and rules (though I am happy the Dev's heard our outcry over the ill-advised "droid invasion") and really don't care about what the "Imperial Crackdown" does to my poor rebel characters...

Now that I'll only be home a day or so every week or two, perhaps the haggard sunken look that I had developed will finally clear up.....

I feel ya, brother. I took the weekend off too. I played KOTOR instead (after two different dates, tossign the frisbee and mountain biking). I'm hooked. KOTOR totally rocks. The droids are great. The content is awesome. They have even have droids AND content: This weekend I put a poor protocol droid out of its misery. Its master was using him as, ehem, a play thing! The droid and I agreed that that was really really wierd.

Also solved a murder mystery and got involved in some major jedi @ss kicking action.

Becareful Sodan, I started playing KOTOR 3 weeks ago, and have played Galaxies only once since then.

I still check these boards everyday for hope.

Its really great. I'm having a blast. Its challenging and interesting and has a very Star Wars feel to it. No creature pets so far, just exotic and dangerous beasts to fight.

I beat KOTOR as a goodie-2-shoes last week. Now I'm trying to go the evil route. It's hard to do,as it is totally against my nature, but man, that force choke and lightning are a blast. I hear there is a seperate ending if you go the evil route.

It occured to me while playing KOTOR, that this was exactly what I wanted out of SWG. I wanted to play DE and work my way to a jedi. The one time I logged back on to play SWG it took me 5 minutes to walk through Coronet due to lag. I keep waiting for this game to have some content and missions like KOTOR. That's why I keep checking these boards everyday. I have faith it will happen, but until then, I'll keep buying games like KOTOR.

Yes, KOTOR is nice. But I played it and completed it on my xbox before SWG was even released. And I loved every minute of it. It did only takea weak to beat KOTOR though.

In any case, comparing it to SWG is comparing apples and oranges. An RPG that isn't massively-multiplier is a completely different beast. It has a much smaller scope, different design goals, and a different style of play.

Take any genre, take a top of the line single player RPG in that genre, and compare its story line and quests to any massively-multiplayer game in the same genre. Without question, the single-player RPG's storyline will be more developed and entertaining, in and of itself, and the quests will be more tightly integrated into that storyline. Butthe game playwill also be extermely narrow, linear, and finite when compared against the massively-multiplier game play.

I've been playing a lot of Jedi Outcast recently, and planning an upcoming Traveller PnP game. Haven't done the DE thing in a few weeks - don't want to dump the class, but I can't get into crafting until things are fixed... really disappointed in the so-called Droid Invasion.

KOTOR was a great game, although like jedi academy and outcast... it wasnt long enough I beat all those games in a single weekend per game
