Thread: CU Skill Point Solution for DEs?

So, right now there isall this talk about the new Combat Upgrade requiring more skill points for combat professions. I totally understand that some Droid Engineers are going to be forced to re-consider this profession or at least Master Artisian because of it.

Possible Solution: What if we create and stock pile Electronic schematics now for: Control Units, GP Modules and Memory Modules? Then we should be able to safely drop MA and gain some skill points back!

If this works and you can stockpile enough then you may never need to me MA again. Another way that this might be used would be tobuy you enough time until you can create a deal/partnership with an MA for the needed parts.

Feedback please,

That does work, though its more work (in my opinion) then just tracking down a MA real quick. Even if you don't know any, usually takes 5 minutes of asking around in a large starport and mentioning there's easy credits in it before one pops up.

In all my time playing this game, I've never been able to find a MA that was willing to make me schematics. Got so tired of it I just went MA myself. Personally, I think that's most people's experience.

Could very well be, I can only speak for the Tarquinas crafter environment.

This has been a huge problem for the DE field since the inception of the profession. I know previous DE Correspondents have been pushing to get our schematics either moved to Novice DE, or move to Engineering 4. Not sure where those previous plans rest now, but I sure hope it's still being pushed.

My guess is shift in priority. It didn't come anywhere close to making the top issues list (would have to dig up my notes to see if it was even mentioned at all) and really isn't a show stopper for the profession (like lack of decay, lack of need, or current bugs are).

I dont think it has a lesser priority now than ever, people are just more and more used to it.

Like people are more and more used to all the other bugs...

I think a droid is able to hold data, and maybe a Flight Computer as well ... if you can put schematics in a FC, you could make a number and just store them there, and earmark resources for them. I sort of like the idea of using your own products to hold profession-supporting schematics. At least it's not like the Chef/BE conflict, I was a BE and was very unwilling to make schematics for my only real profit source for the profession...

On the note of schematic sales, has anybody noticed that you can sell schematics on a vendor?

...has mastered the Pilot profession

A good way to do this is to also give the droid item storage, and put all the resources you need for your schematics in there. That way you've got the resources and schematics in the same place (and you don't accidentally use them for the wrong thing).
