I am a new Master DE. When I build adv R3, for example, the chassis resource box has a pop up that says I can use an older adv. R3 droid to count for a "base chassis" as long as I am willing to destroy the harnesses. Is this true? I can't seem to get it to work.

Really? Never heard/tried that. So you're saying if you have a base model R3 deed in your inventory, and you go to craft and advanced model, something tells you it will let you use the deed as a chassis?

Hmm, I need to get home and try that.
Is that on live or on TC?
Never seen that before.

Having read this post I checked in game. I think it's just a case of an obsolete text string. If you start crafting an advanced droid and hover the mouse over the slot for the chassis a tooltip pops up which says, as the OP said, that a base version of the droid can be used here to "upgrade the droid to the advanced version" (or words to that effect). Underneath this text string it states the normal: "requires one <type> ADV chassis". It looks to me like it was originally intended for advanced droids to be upgraded versions of the non-advanced droids, but that this game mechanic was changed very early. If this is so then the explanatory text is just legacy text from an earlier design. I have not tried using anything other than a chassis in the slot.
