The math is funky (there's a couple active threads on this, feel free to look at them), but to make good bomb droids, the only thing you need to experiment on is the detonation module itself. And the droid's HAM, if you want.
Yea i saw the maths, was never my strong point
From what i gather the final detination power once its in the cluster is determined by the hidden percentage which is worked out by the percentage at which you experiemented it to. (is that correct)
So therefore i could use grinding materials to make the cluster and not invest any exp points into the cluster and the dmg wouldnt be affected, compared to if i used top quality resources and put all my exp points in?

Correct. Crap resources for everything but the det module and the final droid product. Although if the resources are too crappy, you might run into crit fails, I think...

Even if you do crit, you don't lose the resources anymore.
Also, if you experiment where it is not needed, like on the clusters, you will increase the factory production time for no gain.

Actually, all the jedi has to do is hit it once to send the little bugger high-tailing. So HAM really isn't that important for bomb droids. I've thought about putting in a combat module, but most BH's would rather take the risk of it fleeing than lose the detonation power.
