OK, this might be a stupid question, but here goes......So Im trying to build an R2 unit with crafting stations and so on in it. I try to install the said modules and it wont let me. Are the R2, R3, R4 and other combat droids only able to have combat modules in them?? If so, then how is an astromech created? Im probably asking a stupid question, but I really wanna make these droids with crafting stations and other modules besides combat in them. Can someone tell me how, or is this a bug from the CU? Can someone help me here?

Same thing happened to me. The only thing I could reason is that the R2 needed Combat-Capable Socket Clusters and two of the ones I made came out as "Combat Capable Socket Cluster" (without the hyphen). Thus making ita 'different' item and not useable.

Not sure if that is correct, but it was all I could come up with.

Depending on the specific chassis, astromechs will take either a standalone module (ie. crafting station, repair module, combat module, etc.) or a combat-capable socket cluster. So if you are trying to craft an ADV R3, it only has slots for two combat-capable socket clusters. Meaning you have to craft the modules into that type of cluster before crafting it into the R3. The ADV R2 has room for one CCSC and two standalone modules.

Astromechs will NOT take standard clusters, fyi. Only combat-capable ones. For more information, go through the DE 101 stickie at the top.

I assume you are trying to make droids for pilots ?

Well, for Rebel pilots you need to make an R2 to R5 chassis and put a single data module in. Level 1 to Level 6 are available to reflect the pilots astromech ability.

For neutral and Imperial pilots you just need to craft the v1 to v6 computers.

So, if you say use an R3 or other Rx droid that needs a combat capable cluster you crafter the cluster and add the modules (up to 3) you want in the cluster. The final droid when crafted will reflect the contents of the cluster.

I hope that answers your question. And welcome to the world of Droid Engineering. As mentioned the Droid 101 documentation is real handy and will give you some insights into this profession.

The first two items on the droid tab are the combat capable socket cluster, and the general socket cluster. You can only put non-combat items in the GSC. Despite the name, you can put either combat or non-combat modules in the CCSC. One of the last droids I made was for a dancer/pilot, an advanced R3 with L6 data, L6 storage, and 4 different dance effect modules.

So this dancer/pilot has a yacht and he puts the thing on auto pilot and he dances in the lounge?
