Thread: Ideas for the Future of Droids in SWG...

In lieu of the changes toward a more enhanced Star Wars like feel to the game we love, I came up with some ideas that might be feasible and at the same time add more fun to SWG. Feel free to comment on them and/or add some feedback or ideas of your own. Here's my list...
- Slicer Droids or Droid modules.- Smugglers don't take this the wrong way. This would be a droid type or a new module to be inserted into a droid unit that would add the ability to slice terminals and such within a Faction base. Much in the way that R2-D2 was used in just about every Star Wars movie.
- Bio-engineer DNA Sampler Droid.- Droid used in the extraction of DNA from creatures too high or hostile to BE's that can't safely approach their intended targets
- Surveying Droids.- Droid designed to hose a surveying tool preset to a specific mineral/chemical etc.and return with a waypoint(s)(possibly 3) with best % for that specific mineral/chemical etc. within a region near where the droid was deployed, possibly a range based on Surveying skill.
- Delivery Droids- Special Droid type that can deliver an item or items dependent on the size of the droid storage unit installed. Delivery can only be accomplished while target is on the same planet. Droid would take on the look of a seeker droid, but instead of just giving a waypoint it would engage the target in a trade type screen where they can accept or reject the item(s) sent to them.
- Destroyer Droid Schematic- This one is a long shot, but it could work. As DE's have clamored for the ability to make one here are some ways to make it game feasible. The droid speaks for itself, heavy combat droid. Could be introduced as a quest type reward schemtic or random rare loot drop from a boss or elite NPC type. Or make it a faction purchased schematic for DE's for Rebels so they have something akin to the IMP AT-ST. Might give the GCW a bit of tang.
Well that's all that I have for now. Not sure if any of this might be taken seriously by devs for future updates, but I'm sure a lot of us would like to see them added. So post your thoughts on them and add some others to it. Let's see what all the ideas make bring to fruition.

My suggestion for letting us build droidekas, and other rare battle droids. First let the droids occaisonally drop parts of themselves (like most animals on Kashyyk) next allow us to use a shipwrights component analysis tool to "Reverse engineer" a single use schematic from a complete set of Droidekas parts. To keep them rare require them to use a variety of parts not crafted by a Droid Engineer, such as a PSG crafted by and armorsmith, or an AV21 power core, or both. Maybe not the AV21 power core, they are too hard to get, but you get the idea.
