Thread: Important Droid Crafting Station RESEARCH.
So the issue came up does a module rating on a droid crafting station matter. I descided to test.
The Test
I made two weapons droid crafting station modules, one was mod 0 and the other mod -10. I put each one in thier own MSE. I then made 15 advanced droid frame units using each one. On each unit i used my 3 exprimentation points one at a time.
Controls
- Each MSE was made from the exact same resources and was not experiented on. Aside from the two different modules they had the same percentage in quality. (This implies that the module's mechanizm rating used doesn't effect the droid end quality? Needs more testing itself.)
- Each Adv Frame Unit was made from the exact same resources and all had a mech mod of -7 to start.
- Each MSE was fully charged durring the experiment.
- Two crafting tools were used. Both were fromthesamefactory crate with a 14.73 mod on them.
The Results
Here are the number of each type of result i got per experimentation point.
Mech Mod Rating 0, weapon droid crafting module, 45 experimentations
- Amazing Success 2
- Great Success 16
- Good Success 3
- Moderate Success 11
- Success 2
- Failure 3
- Moderate Failure 3
- Big Failure 3
- Critical Failure2
Mech Mod Rating -10, weapon droid crafting module, 45 experimentations
- Amazing Success 8
- Great Success 15
- Good Success 6
- Moderate Success 4
- Success 6
- Failure 0
- Moderate Failure 2
- Big Failure 3
- Critical Failure1
Conclusion
I honestly think this need more data collection to start to be really accurate, however we can see a few thing here. I think its important to acknowledge that this is 30 items made, and personaly i'd like to see thing matter pretty quickly, after all if it takes 500 combines before our tools obviouslymatter i'd be rather upset.
- Both crafting stations were weighted toward successes.
- The 0 station had 11 types of failures, the -10 station had 6 types of failures.
- The 0 station had 34 types of success, the -10 station had 39 types of success.
- The lower quality station had less failures and more success.
- The mean results of the 0 station was a Moderate Success while the mean of the -10 station was a Great success.
- Given 45 experimentations the lower rated module did better thanthe higher rated module!!
I'd love if other people did similar experiments (remember to use the controls i posted) to help push this more toward a solid fact that something that could be chance.
Even so, out of 30 items made the crafting stations' mods basicly didn't matter. Well, actualy the "wosre" of the two was making better items! If i had been making 30 module packed probots, BLLs, R3s, or Protocols I would VERY MUCH care that my crafting station didn't matter!
If i can stand doing more Frame units by hand (ie no grind macro) i will add more data to this and be testing private crafting stations in houses, i'm cursious about them now as well (some one please let me know if they were already tested).
This information is complements of a DE's lack of better things to do with his time. =P
Drashk did a deeper study - about 200 droids as I recall - and came to similar conclusions. He has a link to his study in his signature, so just find one of his posts and there ya go.
The short summary is that quality doesn't appear to matter at all. Even with 200 tests the variance of his results was very small, and he was working with a wider range of quality (-10 and +10... or something like that).

Great! Thanks.
Ok, his was on end droid results, mine focused on crafting stations. Same thing though, the MQ on a crafting station is now confirmed to be just like any other MQ, meaningless.
Yay for droids!

Jellybean, there's one thing you're missing (and this is a point where I disagree with a lot of the other DEs). Look back to what happened with architect crafting stations... at one point there were no ratings and then there were. As a result, you could see which were made with crappy resources and whatnot. I think the same thing will come into play with DE crafting stations one day... which is why I make the uber stations of +14 instead of normal ones.
Yes, they may have hidden ratings. But for now, it doesn't matter =/

IMO it does because the customer is not forced to buy another droid down the road.

*Smacks Mister Fish Silly*
If you lived in the States you'd know that selling ton of low quality crap is how you make money!
Forcing people to buy droids is what its all about!

I'm about quality. And respect. And love.
I respect and love my quality droids? ![]()
Here's a side point: why is "moderate success" better than "success" anyway??? That's inconsistent with the meaning of the word moderate.
not that it's important, but it's pretty darned annoying. couldn't somebody have used a dictionary back in the early days of development when they assigned those labels to things?

Oh. I'm a wookiee. I don't do anything that is quality except shed and smell like wet dog. I don't respect anything that isn't at least as furry as i am. I never love my droids, though i have been known to LOVE my droids when i've been drinking.
