So... I'm like, super excited to get all the fun new droid toys... but...
Where's the Droid Deka, the Super Battle Droid, the Battle Droid??? Why don't we have these chassis? It seems silly to me not to have them, with such a heavy emphasis on them in EP1 and 2, and now seeing them in the game (and in the header of these forums) it's like the Devs are just dangling the carrot out in front saying "neener neener neener."
I'm sure this has been ranted, debated and flamed to no end already, but humor me here. I'm a 2nd time 'round DE. I pursued and achived DE after launch and dropped it month 5 in order to pursue other professions, because it just ... sucked.
I'm happy to be back at my roots, but with all the improvements, the combat aspect could have been done right by adding 3 new chassis, instead of making the repair droid and the R series droids combat ready.

They got canned until after the Space Expansion and to be realistic, I don't think they ever will make it into the game as a craftable player controlled pets. Don't hold your breath.

Unfortunately, one of the major deals about the end of the Clone Wars was the banning of all combat droids. Which is why you don't see these combat droids in Episodes 4, 5, & 6.
I've heard that they're in the game, but under NPC control and un-obtainable by anyone.
Personally I would like to see these implimented, but at great risk since they are Illegal as all hell in the current timeframe.
In reality, I don't think you'll see the Droid Engineer become anything more than a utility based class, which if you think about it, is what it should be given the era the game is set in.

not being around in ep4,5,6 made sense to not have them craftable to us... but now that they've started to show up, it removes the validity of the immersian and SW time-frame issue. There's no reason to not have them craftable now, they've found a way to get them into this era.
Make is a super rare drop, 5 use schematic. I don't care... they should just be available.
It would take very little effort to add these. They gave new pets to the BEs... would be easier to add 3 droids to the DEs. Far less calculations and variable statistics than the BE'd pets.

It is only private ownership of combat droids that is illegal during this era, so it makes perfect sense for them to exist yet not be ownable by players.

Sorry but I have to disagree. If the developers want us to wash rinse and repeat we should have the option of using combat droids. The player character represent only a SMALL fraction of the total population in the galaxy. We are the heros. We are the ones playing we should have fun doing it and a combat droid would make it more fun and easier. Also make it feel more starwarsy. Right now it feels more like the developers using the players as combat pratice. I dont feel like a hero I feel like a heard of cattle in this game main reason I havent played much lately. Combat droids should have been included and made craftable.

Luke, Han, Lando, Leia, Darth Vader, and all the rest didn't have Droidekas, so why should you?

casue they can kill storm troopers with one shot. and thats a very unfair comparision when luke and darth are jedis taking on hundreds at a time and winning leia hardly ever seeing combat chewie and han killing anything with one shot and here we are in the game getting killed by guys who supposdly had the worst shot in the starwars universe going by novels and what lucas himself as said.

I see both your points, but i would counter one with, why then does Nym have these droids. And if combat droids can't be privately owned... who owns the battle droids? Villains? I'm a rebel... according to the persons who made that no combat droid law, I'm a villain as well, yet, I can net own these items.
Just arrguing both sides I guess. To me, it seems silly to mount 6 lasers on a rolling tripod when we could have a much more RP sense of combat droid feel usings the combat droids the movies have already presented us.

I agree wiht your point as well thranxx. Just makes me mad the devlopers try to hold so much to contuity then they go ahead and let tons of jedis roam around. if they used thier heads they could think of a solution I mean heck what about assasin droids? C3 units with hidden weapons like in some of the books. I also wonder if I can use my r2 droid in my xwing when the space part comes out hehe
