- I am new to droid engineer and although I come from being a Master Doc, I still have some holes in my understanding of this profession... please bear with me.

- What kind of factory do I need? There doesn't seem to be a 'droid' factory, although there is a Droid/weapon crafting station, which I've picked up.

- How many items must I rely on a master artisan for?

- How many of you are Master Artisans?

- This is going to seem silly but one reason I never tried DE before now is because of the screwy SWG economy. What I mean by this is, I've had a medical droid for my doctor skill and it doesn't die, or seem to decay. In fact every droid I"ve ever bought appears to be in mint condition. Kinda hard to get repeat customers when they only need you for a new model. (once every 8 publishes?).

Is what I'm explaining the norm? Do droids always remain in top condition unless they are Death blowed?

Thanks for helping me out....

Ok

You need an equipment factory.

You need Master Artisan for Electronic Memory and GP modules, the Control Units and the Micro-sensor suites (i think that's it)

- How many of you are Master Artisans?

Most of us

You can't DB droids. They're always repairable. However, people still buy droids all the time.

Thanks for helping me out....

Hope this helped!

- How many items must I rely on a master artisan for? Control Unit, EGPM and EMM (all available at Master Artisan)

- How many of you are Master Artisans? (a bunch.. myself included)

Is what I'm explaining the norm? Do droids always remain in top condition unless they are Death blowed? Unfortunately, yes

And it get's worse..Don't expect any major updates for the DE profession until after the Space Expansion is rolled out... nine months (or more) of the same problems.

- Account: Master TKA (cancelled)
- Account: Master Doctor (cancelled)
- Account: Smuggler (cancelled)
- Account: Master Chef (cancelled)
- Account: Master Droid Engineer (activity suspended pending developments)
Total loss of annual revenue (SOE): ~$715US to ~$900US
- Bad press: Priceless
Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.

DE is lots of fun, and I am glad droids dont decay, one reason people luv to buy them is you can store things in them and they won't decay!

Well thanks for the quick responses. It looks like I will have to take the unplanned route of master artisan. Maybe if I get into the right guild I can rely on a fellow artisan for the mentioned components. Thanks again...

Starphire, while I agree that it is a nice feature that droids never seem to require replacement, I don't think it's realistic or comparable to the likes of Weaponsmiths or Armoursmiths.

Maybe it's just my server (corbantis) but a suite of decent quality Composite armour will run you a few hundred thousand! It will usually last only a month (for me) and if I"m lucky, I'll get a decent repair or two out of it before replacement....

Same goes for weapons. That's why I personally think it's hard to have a cycle of supply and demand in the droid profession that is motivated by anything other than 1- career change, or 2- publishes with new models. I'm just not sure why droids seem to be exempt from wear and tear? Seems strange to me.

I equate DE more with Architect then with Armorsmith and Weaponsmith. Like Architects, our primary products typically never need to be replaced (buildings and harvesters only need to be replaced if someone slacks off on paying maintenance, and droids do not typically need replacing either.)

We do produce items that get consumed, however. I sell several droid batteries and droid repair kits each week, and have already had a few previous customers return this morning after the patch to buy a droid customization kit.
