Fellow DEs,

I now present the work-up of a 'focus thread' on the new Auto-Repair droid module.

The posted discussion/focus threads for other new droid modules can be found in the Publish 8 "Hot Topics!" thread.

There will be other such focus threads coming as I get them finished.

Note: The information in this thread will be updated as needed and represents only our best information on the current state of these modules (as reported from personal experience and TC DEs reporting in). Any aspect of the information can and may change up to its release to Live and after.

If you find information that's false or misleading, let me know so I can update the section below.

Enjoy!

Respectfully,

Auto-Repair module (available at 3/0/0/0):

Items of note:

  • These modules will send out a healing 'pulse' to any droid in range.

  • The listed repair/heal rating on the module(s) will be exactly what you get for each droid.

  • The amount shown is applied to all HAM bars on the droid.

  • The repair 'pulse' goes out every 10 seconds.

  • It appears that the battery life on these may be 50% of normal (i.e. 30 min. instead of an hour).

Schematic / Resources:

  • 40 units of Steel

  • 20 units of Inert Gas

  • 50 units of Aluminum

Durability: 50/50% Conductivity and OQ

Effectiveness (Auto-Repair Power and Quality): 50/50% Conductivity and OQ

Description of functionality:

Note: I need one of these (and will get one or work on up). I wanted to get this thread in place, for now...

shouldnt these droids also be usable to repair vehicles and harvestors?

Ok, I did some work with this one. The modules do stack, and any droid who's owner is in your group within a 30m radius will be healed for whatever the rating is to each HAM barevery 10 seconds (including the droid with the module). Not sure what else to say about it... Couple things I've noticed, the ratings and therefor the heals aren't really that great, at least, not with a 10 second delay. I think the max rating on each module is 20 maybe (not sure on that, can't remember off the top of my head), so I guess a fully loaded R3 with 6 20 rated modules wouldn't be too bad (120 every 10 seconds), but I don't think it would be quite as good as it should be for the cost on that.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, if anyones got any questions post em and I'll see if I've got an answer.

Thats it? Does it repair incapped droids, and if the droid is incapped, owner overt, does the repairing droid and owner receive a tef or does it not heal at all? Any bonus for the LE in module effectiveness, and lastly, if put on patrol will it still repair or does it need to be stationary?

Ok, nm maybe a lil more

Is it group oriented only, or can it befriend the owner of the droid in need of repair?

For now.

Does it repair incapped droids,

Should, but I haven't checked on this specifically

and if the droid is incapped, owner overt, does the repairing droid and owner receive a tef or does it not heal at all?

Definately have to check on this...

Any bonus for the LE in module effectiveness,

doubt it, but I'll check

and lastly, if put on patrol will it still repair or does it need to be stationary?

it will heal while moving just fine.

gotta be in a group.

I sure hope that an LE Repair would get a bonus for this module, much like the surgical should get a bonus for medical. Loaded R3's shouldn't be the ultradroid for every case.

Thanks Jenden, it seems the effectiveness is trying to maintain a baseline alongside the stimpack droid. If it heals incapped droids it would seem to have a degree of effectiveness. Still kinda low, the trade off being a PC in desperate need of a heal to maintain a high damage output vs. a droid in desperate need of a heal to maintain a low damage output? Besides power is their any consumables?

I tell you where I want this and how: I want it to be maximally effective inside a Power Droid - that way I can repair and power my Droid Army(TM)!

This module is healing damage not wounds I presume? So it's not a replacement for the repair module?

120 per 10 seconds? for a maxxed R3

well, so much for them being useful in combat.

And of course since you can only have 1 droid out, it doesnt really help any given person with there droid.

At best these would be good for healing droids between mission waypoints, assuming you walked, which nobody does.

well at least the module is cheap to make.

I haven't seen this asked anywhere else, so here goes.

Has anyone tried having out 2 or more repair droids going at once? If I have 2 medics healing me that works great. What about 2 repair droids?

Thanks,

Deidre
