Thread: about DE experimentation points...

I'm looking to max out my experimentation points but I need to know how many I need.

From what I've read, it seems 20 is the golden number. I'm assuming +20 "points" will give you, actually,

+2 experimentation points to use in the crafting process. This, given that you are a master DE, would result in

12 total points to use in the actual crafting experimentation process...

Is this correct?

I'm also asking any/all of you who have maxed them out to give me a rough estimate of what you paid for all

your points. I'm sick of people trying to sell me a +1 tape for 200k. I just don't see paying upwards of millions of creds to

max out on points (that's assuming 20 is the magic number).

Unless that is the general consensus....

Also what is the max on Droid Assembly points I can attain and how important is it really?

Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated

ok overlooked that faq on skill points the first time I looked at that sticky. doh

but I would still like to know what I can expect to pay per point (attachment points ie. +1, +2 etc)

I don't want to spend more than I should....nor should anyone!

I paid 7 million for my +20 on Tempest. It turned out to be +24, but what can you do. Don't mess around with the +1's though. You can only put 1 experiment tape in per item of clothing, it will ignore the rest. So if you buy 20 +1's you'll never have enough room.

Hope that helps.

Go hunting for Canyon Corsairs on LOK. It's a POI, they tend to drop lots of tapes. If you don't get DE ones you can make money selling the others

I paid 5 mil for a +9 and then I got a killer deal on +16 (+7,+5,+4) for 3.5 million. So I got my +20 plus a +5 extra to re-sell. I can probably sell that +5 to someone for the 3.5mil that I spent for the +16 lot!

What good does the 2 extra experiment points do? I seem to always max or have one left after I am done experimenting anyway.

It often makes very little difference. But there are some cases where you need to experiment down two different tracks to get the maximum functionality from a module (I think the stimpack dispenser is like this) and there aren't enough experimentation points to do both of them to maximum. The extra experimentation points also help you out in those cases where you have a few minor failures while experimenting. It is true that you usually can experiment to the maximum without the extra points, but you won't always succeed and the extra points slightly increase the probability that you will.

So dont put more than one experimentation tape into one piece of clothing...gotcha.

What about putting one experimentation tape and one assembly tape into one piece of clothing?

If you did this, would only one of those tapes be counted or both since they are different types?

if the tapesare of different types it will be fine. the problem is if two tapes of the exact same type are put into the same piece of clothing. if you do that, only one of them will count and the other will be lost.

Unless you should happen to find a weapon with Droid Experimentation +5 or greater, the highest bonus I've seen was with +20 (to provide 12 points of experimentation at master).

As Human, I have +130 Droid Assembly, +120 Driod Experimentation, and +13x (min 130, max 138) Artisan Experimentation.

I've paid less than4mil for all of it.

I have a related question about a jacket I have. It's +5 experimentation +3 droid customazation. I dont see any difference witht he custom but I know the experiment is worth while. Anyhow, my question: Is there a crafters apron for DE? If there is then this is about equal to it, if not then it might be worth a few credits if I decide to sel it. TIA

Only need the points for stimpacks and stimpack dispensors AFIK. I would hunt for them yourself since the campers that sell them on the trade boards overcharge. A lot.
