Thread: Looking for Droid, should I have it made, or buy off vendor?

Ok, I think I know what I want, but should I get a DE to craft exaclty what I want, or just keep looking on vendors and hope I can read the titles correctly?

This is what I would like in a droid.....tell me if I am dreaming.

-Need droid that enhances my heals..... 110 medical healing?

-Would also like it to have a high combat level (capable of tanking?)

Now, if I wanted this droid to be detonatable, would that take away from the healing and combat levels?

Also, a price check would determine if I am going to want to blow up my droids.

If you want the droid for NPC BH Missions, then I'd suggest a Probot with a medical module added. Against level 81-82 targets my R3 was collapsing after a relatively short while. Howver with a probot on "guard" mode, I can kite targets, have the healing bonus AND get the probots ranged attack going, which is the equivalent of a bleed I guess

From a BH perspective, I wouldn't put a Detonation module in it - the droid is unusable and removed from your datapad after its blown up.

Check the list of DE Shops by location in the stickies to find a DE in your galaxy

If you have DE on your server who stocks with good stuff then you can just by. However, before I become a DE one of the things I hated was looking at a droid on a vender and it says nothing about how well it was crafted then buying it and calling to my data pad and finding out it was junk.

Thing is how the droid is build does make a difference. Most DE will say this is bull and that resources and lvl or modules makes no differce. Some even put in a single lvl 4 armor module becuase it will look the same.

My main is MBH and I have tested both crap droids and quality droids with him many of times. What you put into a droid does not show when looking at it but does make a difference in combat proformace.

If you want something that can tank there are two routes

1) Well make R-3 (the above post must have had a crappy one) then ask for these modules.

1 combat module with a 110 combat rating

1 lvl 6 medical module with a 12 rating and 14 quality... will come out 110 healing effiency

2 lvl 6 armor modules with 12 rating and 14 quality

4 auto-repair moduleswith no less then 23 rating on each one

2) Probot

same as above but will only hold 3 auto-repair modules

For pvp the R-3 does kinetic and probot does energy and the R-3 will out damage the probot by about 20 pts per shot against battle armor or jedi and more vs recon which adds up (probot better choice if going agaist assualt armor for damage)

ALSO !!! ALWAYS !!! GROUP YOUR DROIDS IF YOUR COMBAT LVL IS ABOVE 30 THEY WILL GET YOU COMBAT LVL AND IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!

Ingame stats vs a lvl 81 19k health white chervon boss (with my lvl 80 bh)

not grouped 61 damage before armor

grouped 178 dmage before armor

Example other way with my crafter (using my droid to guard me while at bazaar)

lvl 18 npc

grouped got killed in 10 hits

not grouped killed npc in 2 shots

So both show that it gets the combat lvl of the person it groups with

Been waiting all week for a post like this.

I am on kettemoor, and I am sure you arent there. I will try and find a DE on this server and place an order like you posted. That sounds like what I am looking for. I am on block 3 of investigation, and having no problem killing 82 NPC's without help. But, as always, I am preparing myself for the PvP that will come in my future. Using these missions to try and defeat the NPC's with as little damage taken, or mind, action, and health bars used.

I know prices vary from server to server, but do you have a ballpark figure for what I should pay for the R3 Advanced build like you stated?

Yeah I am or corbantis or would make you one.

Also for NPC's always attack first, then after you hit the npc tell your droid to attack.

The npc (assuming BH missions) will attack what hit it first... and if you hit first it will not attack your droid which means you donot have to heal it. etc.

You don't want your Med / Combat droid to be detonatable. You will lower the explosive power of the droid. However, if you don't mind replacing it all the time, it could be a nasty surprise when the droid just shooting at them blows up in their face.

Could be interesting.

MeeGill, I have a Kettemoor MDE with a shop on Corellia in the player city of New Alderaa. If you haven't found a droid to soot your needs yet. Just drop me an e-mail in game.

Good luck

The above information is right but as it stands at the moment you won't get any better droid than one using a combat module belwo 110. Any level 6 medical module will give 110 rating and the armour modules will revert back to 1217 no matter how many level 6 modules go in.

I agree that the auto repair modules need to be good and get in as many as you can. I have both a probot and an R3 that I use depending on the situation.

As for costs it's really variable. I tend to charge 20K for the chassis and 10K per module, making around 70 - 80K for an R3. although I noticed someone on the trade server selling them for 150K!!

And as a DE myself on a different galaxyI have brought them from that trade server ad with my combat toon.

Mainly on the grounds that I believe for any combatant they should be prepared to pay at least this for a good droid. As a combatant if someone was making me capped components (even if they made no difference) all the way through the droid, I would have no problem paying upto 400kish for a droid.

I believe I may also have brought some of your probots in the past as well (brought a stash of them for use vs the Katarn in a group of lower level characters), not sure, is your vendor in the same building as one for some particularly nice BE clothing?
