My god, it's turning into more of a Dilbert cartoon... please tell me the devs don't have pointy hair.

Geez, that is pretty bizarre...

I'm picturing the little buzzsaw that R2 used to cut 'the crew' out of the Ewok net on the forest moon of Endor.

Okay...this is just wrong. I guess we might need to live with this since it's all but one foot out the door but I think (and almost know) that droid clients have not been asking for this. Nor have DEs stated that they are even willing (or going to) build these.

I suspect that adding combat roles to R-series droids maybe used about as much as current BLL droids are...

...couldn't we have gotten something better/cooler/different than this?

I don't know... "heavy melee attack" brings to mind cartoonish pictures of a giant mallet being produced from the droid's dome in order to strike the target.

Is it just me or does this sound like you're actually swinging your R2 unit at somebody or something? I think the R2 certification is in the two-handed line of brawler.

Ugh.

Or now maybe Wookiees can pick up an R2 by a leg and use it as a club?

Or load a 100k container of steel into the droid's cargo compartment and have him run over the mob's foot?

But it's sad. They're still just jerking the carrot out of reach and saying "But... you WANTED this carrot! Why are you so ungrateful?"

I'm trying (I'll pause for a sec and emphasize trying) to realize that they aren'tturning astromechs in to combat droids, they're giving us the combat modules as yet another option to put in them if the customer wants it.

The problem with trying to think this way is that astromechs take the most modules in the game and thus would be the most hard-hitting combat droids... which sure makes it look like they are built for it.

Still, I think it's a valid point to say that at least we have the option. The reverse of that would be that we are completely restricted from putting the combat modules in there, which wouldn't necessarily be any better.

Honestly I can go either way on this... I probably will try to talk customers out of combat-astromechs, but if that's what they want, that's what I'll build...

/sigh
