Thread: Small Idea for Cities

As a burgeoning Droid Engineer, the one thing I've noticed is the distinct lack of droid presence in the game. In the non-player cities, you *occasionally* see various droids running around beeping and such. This is cool, it adds a lot of atmosphere. There is currently no way, however, to add such droid-based background to player cities and homes.

I would love to see the ability to create "do nothing droids" that players can use to 'add theme'. It would be effectively an object, like a sofa or a lightpost, but maybe has an animation and a sound to it. Because it would just be an object, it would not count against the number of droids you can have out at any one time...

That way, player cities could place a gonk droid next to their shuttleport, put a medical droid outside their medcenter, or players could put an R5 unit in the corner of their homes.

It would be REALLY great if there was a way for player cities to acquire/set up roving droids to add some atmosphere.

I don't follow the forums much, so this might already have been suggested...

Paul,

Not a bad idea for sure - some added atmosphere would be very nice.

I think, however, that many here would argue that there are so many other critical issues to be addressed that are of much more vital importance than static atmosphere objects. Kind of reminds me of the "Vehicle Customization Kits." Here we introduce the ability to put pretty colors on your bike, when half of the basic DE profession features are flat out bugged and busted.

Kinda like worrying about getting a nose job done when you have a brain tumor...

Absolutely. It's downright shameful that you can't name a droid with a personality chip.

They should've hired me two years ago when I applied.
