lol, AFK grinding Zabrak Speech!

That would be a downside and wholly agree languages should be harder to come by. I just figured if something like that ever came about it would probably end being a passive translation thing. All of this sounds way too interesting to ever be implemented.

1. A Tracker Droid that tracks something.

2. A Protocol Droid that serves a purpose.

1. A Tracker Droid that tracks something:

Sure, we have a tracker droid, the DZ-70, but its name leaves us angered when we find it doesn't really do anything to live up to its name.

I suggest allowing a Tracker Droid to do what it says. Track. This could be used by anyone in the same manner a Probe or Seeker droid is. It could track another player. It could track down a vendor with the items you request (i.e. Armor, weapons, etc...and/or get a bit more precise like carbine, rifle or body armor or foot armor, etc...) You could also use it as a suppliment to the Ranger Profession. Allow it to track animals/NPCs which are out of rangeof the player's skills. It could also be used by artisans to track resources. Yes, this has been brought up before, but here it is again. You could also have it, since it is named "fugitive Tracker Droid," allow it to track NPCs of your opposing factions. Like Meatlumps, Gungans or even Imperials or Rebels. Sure, they are not really considered a "fugitive" to the masses, but they are a fugitive to you if you are wanting to hunt them down and find them to kill them off.

2. A protocol droid that serves a purpose:

In the movies and in the books, C-3PO was constantly saying "I am fluent in 6 million forms of communication." Well, bring that home to this game. The way we learn languages is just plain stupid. Oh stand here and train me all the languages in the game in under 5 minutes. Damn, now that is a 'Hooked on Phonics' edition I want!

My idea is to blank everyone's language skills and revert back to having just their own species such as when they started the game. Then require people of different races to only be able to communicate through the droid. After 50 or so correspondents with a certain race, the owner of that droid then learns that language. Sure, this could be more of a pain, but isn't it a bit more logical? After all, we can't just stand there and learn all the skills for each profession, we must have enough experience doing it before we can progress to the next level. Same should be for language. You should have to get xp for earning a language before you can speak it yourself. Perhaps create a 0 (ZERO) Skill Points skill tree for languages, but require experience points for each language. Then once you have enough experience, a member of that race or someone who has learned it can teach them.

Allow /tells, guildchat and groupchat to be understood universally, but this would get rid of some of the SPAMMING near the popular starports, as not all of the people there can understand what someone is saying in spatial.

Now, to interact, the droid already has a "converse" option on its menu whether it is your droid or not. Just activate where if you want to correspond with someone, you go up, use "converse" option on the persons droid and then it allows you to speak. This could also take advantage of the driod's personality chip. Allowing it to be itself a bit more than currently. You could have a "communications module" loadable only into the Protocol Droid Chassis.

These are not the "end-all" droid options in the game, but I thinkthey would be a small spice to add to this potentially great cuisine that could be cooking up in the DEV room.

I like the protocol translating idea. Languages really are stupid in this game. I was in SWG 10 minutes before someone taught me every language, and since I thought I needed it, I did it. Although interacting with the protocol droid would be neat content, it would be a lot simpler if, when you had it out, it translated automatically much like the medical module works. You could even make protocol droids a necessity for communicating with alien NPCs when doing high level quests.

I like the requirement of them for high level quests.

The problem with allowing this to be passive is that people would set themselves to AFK in front of coronet starport. With all the /yells, they would get the experience to learn languages, in my opinion, still too quickly.
