Thread: Do you DEs REALLY want to see R2s and R3s shooting it up in town?
YES!

Er... I mean, No.
I refuse to make astromechs combat-capable. I may put one combat module in an R2 if I have no other need for the module slot, to at least give it a self-defense option, but this "Droid Invasion" is seriously a droid nerf, if it goes live in anything even approaching its current state....

I guess this "droid invasion" was a bit more exaggerated than we thought it was:
"Here is a few modules, some fixes...here is your 'Droid Invasion,' now shut up and become a CH!"

My bigger concern is that the new Probots will make the R-type units less valuable. They will have the same functionality and be easier to make with about 3 times the HAM.

I mean DAMN! How star wars is that? Hmmm? Didn't droids have special purposes in the movies? R2 was repair and maintenence droid! The only time he ever attacked anything was with his arc welder, and all that did was give a shock! I support you DEs and spend tons of cash on droids, but this is a serious mistake! I know you guys are desperate for something to make your profession more useful, but please don't sell out for this! Service droids should NOT be turned into combat droids just because you are able to drop in a module!
/agree
Seems like just adding a module is the devs was of taking the easy way out.

We know that R-series droids with combat ability is not very "Starwarsy"
Point your rant in the direction of the Devs.
Actually, I suspect you won't see too many of those. An Advanced R3 will hold 1 more combat module than an Advanced Probot, has about 1/3 the HAM and is considerably more difficult to make. Unless that 1 combat module really increases the damage output I think you'll only see a few Combat R-Type units.
My bigger concern is that the new Probots will make the R-type units less valuable. They will have the same functionality and be easier to make with about 3 times the HAM.
Yes, there is some crackrock involved with the new combat droids. lol!

I just reread the title of this post and was struck with the image of strung out R2s wandering the streets of Mos Eisley looking for their next fix of oil.
