Thread: droid storage beating the imp crackdown?

Wow Kollos does not cry exploit.
I only cry exploit for you, Sodan, and even then only if you wear that tight leather bodysuit of yours.
Basically, I'm just not sure about this one. I can certainly see it being a bug, but I can also see this being deliberate. Or at the very least, I can see it being claimed as a "feature" because they don't want to change it and there areample reasons - both programmatically and realistically -that they don't need to. It's not like the Cluster module problem, because that was clearly a bug and so using it was an exploit.
I think you are referring to EricTheGreat's whitey-tighties.
Also, you're just trying to turn this intoa cluster thread. For once I don't object.

First we get Imperials chipping away at our abilities, now we have DE's chipping away too? Look, realism isn't the issue here. Profession identity is. What if all those dead droids lying around Tatooine were sliceable and smugglers could "slice" them to make them active again, "slice" them to activate certain modules (which we'd choose from a menu and which wouldn't be limited), and then could sell them to other players? It'd be realistic, after all. Slicing is basically just hotwiring components. Or maybe we could just make droids that are essentially walking unscannable storage compartments. Either of those wouldbe a BAD idea because they'd strip your profession of its individuality and reduce your role in the game.
Look, it's quite simple really. Each profession has a unique purpose in the game (or at least SHOULD have one). Each profession has its little corner of the universe, into which NO ONE should intrude without having invested skill points. It's like being in a union. If you ain't paid yer dues, you're just a scab.
The argument that "it's realistic" is beside the point.
"But if only smugglers can smuggle, then we can't carry our illegal stuff around freely." Yes, and that's exactly the idea. It's illegal. That means you have to break the law and pay the consequences for doing it. That's what smugglers are for. We get you around that little problem. If we're not doing that, they might as well just nuke our profession and let us transfer our skill points instantaneously over into other professions. We HAVE to serve a role in the game and walking slice/spice vendors ain't it. We're smugglers. We're the guys you go to to move illegal stuff from Point A to Point B without getting caught, or, if you DO get caught, with reduced penalties somehow (bribery, fighting the cops off, etc.).
-- Edited --
thought better of the storage thing. If you can own multiple droids, it extends the range of your storage abilities. We really SHOULD be the only guys who are smuggling. So, I have to say that I'm against this and view it as an exploit. I'll be getting in touch with Taurin about this.

Stop trying to divert attention from the real issue here:
Melons.
Kollos,
You need do drop DE and go entertainer, you are dropping the laugh bombs today. But seriously, who had the sig that said "well, its not the first time a pair of melons brought down a galaxy"?

You know, you're absolutely right. You SHOULDN'T rob a beggar of his donation hat. That's why I reported this to Taurin as an exploit. This can't be intentional. You guys should not be getting the ability to sell (literally) smuggling abilities. That's our job. Sorry.
I always knew Item Storage was an exploit since its one of three things droids can do. Everyone should quit making item storage droids or risk being banned!

Another exploit: Carrying equipment in your backback and using macros to equip it! Macros are an exploit!

Sorry, smuggler here. This is a very closed minded post, of the two professions out there that have gotten bent over the most why are we fighting about this? Simple answer: DE storage compartments are not an exploit. I have nothing against storing items in a droid. Droids hiding contraband? That is an exploit, right up there with putting extra missions in your droid's storage compartment as far as I am concerned. The Dev's need to see this immediatley, review it and let us know if the storage compartments are indeed scanned or not. As far as I can tell it hasn't been confirmed if they are scanned or not.

This is all kinda silly and not silly at the same time.
How bout this as a solution. Contraban cannot be stored in a droid! If you have an item that is sliced or spice, the droid rejects its storage, unless say a slicer sliced the droid ( i.e. bypassed its security protocols ) to allow a certain number of contraban items to be stored in it.
