On the average day, if I'm not out actively selling, I'll sell 20-30 droids (in about 4 hours of gameplay), on a day when I actually try to sell droids, I'll sell about 40-50.

For the good of all DE!

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

I will reserve judgement on the "high end combat droids" until I actually see "high end combat droids."

But as DE is primarily a crafting profession (in that NO combat or combat support experience is a prerequisite for being a DE), I don't see how it is justified that BAM! at master DE (or whatever level) we all of a sudden become a powerful combat class.

What combat skill is there required to command a droid? Secondly, that is a false assumption that DE is solely a crafting profession.

Furthermore... what weaponskills exist in the CH tree? (And don't tell me there pets are there weapons, because thats EXACTLY what we're discussing for DE's.)

Yes and no, normally engineers maintain the engineering spaces. However I pointed out that The Reactor Officer who is an engineer is 3rd in command of the ship, if in a combat situation the captain and first officer were incapacitated he is now in command of the warship.

Don't forget the Army engineers and seabees mentioned also, both are combat trained to go along with their engineer skills.

Point well taken about ship command.

In terms of the army corps and seabees, are not the skills to build a structure and to defend the structure separate? All military (as my understanding goes) are trained in basic combat in boot camp, being that fighting is a core skill as the nature of the military. The engineering component I assume is completely distinct and separate. So what they've done is not 'hybrid' the personnel, but instead have taught them two distinct skill sets that have a combined high value.

Further, I would assume that the army corps/seebeas combat training is not specialized, but more relatively basic ('basic' is probably a bad word choice, but all I can think of presently). Extremely competent of course, but not to the high degree of the elite groups like the Navy SEALs, and I believe the Rangers on the Army side, or any of the I'm sure countless specialized combat classes.

Trying to poll consensus on some narrow issues relating to combat droids. I have a summary of what I've seen so far. Please vote here:
