Thread: Droid Engineer Issues Designer responses
What a joke.
I feel for you guys. I will be surrendering Droid Engineer next time I log on. Those were pathetic responses. Apparently, everything is working as intended. Oh...enjoy the perma-dying droideka they are going to add for you that is weaker than a all-player usable CH pet.
My List of wanted future Combat Droids:
The Basilisk War Droid: This would be easiestto add once mounts and vehicles are in, and although they have EU restrictions, theycould be made to be Rebel only as a ridable faction pet to counter AT-ST's you'd need to create a backstory of the Rebels finding a fleet of these or something along those lines.
SD-9 and 10's: They might have EU restrictions but it's not clear.
The X-1 Viper: Looks like ED-209. ![]()
The Fromm Tower Droid: They're known to be in the hands of Bounty Hunters so it would be reasonable for us to craft them.
E522 Assassin Droid: Assassin Droids were outlawed by the Empire but it is not known when, and besides it hasn't stopped massive cloning across the Galaxy. ![]()
Scarab Droids: ooo....Buggy...![]()
Duelist Elite: Could be the start of a new line of gladatorial droids for us to build.![]()
Mark X Executioner: Another Gladatorial droid that could also be used in combat.
S-ep1 Security: I love how they look.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, those are the ones I'd love to see.![]()
I don't understand why droid repair kits are an artisan thing....do you?
Also, in the postings they keep mentioning things like "The idea of new droids is great, do you have any suggestions?" (paraphrasing). Why can't they find one person to read this forum? ![]()
besides the obvious need for combat droids...how abotu CUSTOMIZATION
like a tailor makes clothes, we SHOULD be allowed to make different color droids. the ADV frames are there...how bout the final product.
Combat droid wise: Of course Droideka, Super Battle droids and at a lower tier regualr battledroids.
It would be nice for some droids to be able to deliver items and others to be able to gather resources from harvesters. Perhaps Treadwells could do this.
Power Droids will likely power up vehicles and starships too.
As for permadeath it should not occur until robots wound damage goes into the minus territory. Let DE be able to heal this damage just as players have professions to heal their wounds. That way DE will be regularly needed.
Heck off subject but let CH pets be killed if they get negative wound damage and let Bio Engineers be required to remove their damage.
I do not agree with the perma-death on droids now. pets many times the effectiveness take a fraction of the time to capture and train as out advanced probots do, yet don't die. There is no balance here. But add to that anyone can use a creature dificulty 12 or below, whena adv probot is lvl 10, makes it insane!
Anyone can use a better pet than a droid!
With no training or skill points!
That being said let me say that I am happy with the patch, except the droid death. I think something like a droid corpes should drop in the least, so that then an engineer (non droid), could put it back together. Thus creating more business for rising engineers of all type.
Thanks Q
I think it would be great if the binary load lifter could be used to move crates from factories into predesignated containers within a house. There could be a container that only accepted crates, and by double-clicking on this container, you could pull out an item, just like using a crate. Call it a crate depository for arguments sake. Furthermore, this depository could hold several thousand worth of an item, or it could hold several types of items and the crafter could select an item from a list (or you could have several crate depos in a house each storing specific crates... you get the picture). It would certainly make the BLL worth more than just a nifty-looking walking behemoth.

Yes. I'm surprised that they asked?
The only combat droids in the star wars universe were the battle droids, the bigger ones in Episode II and droidekas.
An sorry to break it to you ATST wishers but they are not droids. They're vehicles.
ATAT: All Terraine Attack TRANSPORT
ATST: All Terraine Scout TRANSPORT
I do have one suggestion though...the probots before you guys nerfed them into minor durni power were functional and fine...if it ain't broke, dont' fix it...you've got enough broken stuff to deal with.
I think they must of watched Empire Strikes Back, saw Han and Chewie blow up a probe droid in two shots so thought that must be the way they are. So of course they put it in the game
but failed to realise it blew up because of a self destruct sequence
/signs the we want battledroids bandwagon ![]()
My thoughts on one of the reasons why the Droid profession is in such disarray is because the Dev's don't want to overstep onto the boundaries of other professions with Droids. I think I've made some comments worth considering regarding this on my post........

Ya might have to copy and paste.

Yes, that's true.
But some of us understand this.
The people that are posting ideas of how to REPLACE other things aren't thinking about this.
The purpose of droids, realisticaly in terms of the game, is to support other professions, or provide limited abilities for people who don't have them.
For example, surveying droids - someone above said no, because it would put miners out of business. Well, I don't mind putting AFKers out of biz, LOL - hopefully the Devs will close that hole soon anyway - but I digress. In the case of surveying it would only be replacing something someone can already do for themselves, and if they did gather samples they should be LESS effective then a person or harvester.
Slicing droids are requested by almost every smuggler I meet - obviously we don't want to provide slicing ability to those who can't slice (it is an elite profession), but something that functions as an enhancer to slicers would be very useful, and welcome.
The only droid I really, really want to see that might step on people's toes isa medical droid. Even if it's very limited - we were told there would be NPCs who did this for a fee back in beta, yet we never got them. The simple truth is that unless you travel to a major city, you are stuck healing yourself. Many of us carry novice medic just to be able to heal ourselves when no one else is available. It's slow - but it works. A medic droid that was slow would obviously not be as good as a doctor, and most people would use the doctor when they have a choice - but right now unless you are traveling with a medic you spend a lot of time running around trying to find healing.
Droids should mostly support, or in some cases provide a limited function.
Players should ALWAYS be better - but for those people who don't travel in groups, play on underpopulated planets, or at off hours, a slight stepping on toes (if at all) would be far outweighed by the benefits to the end player.
