Ooooo, I cant wait. More Droid Modules (not new droids). Wow, what great new content.

Do the Devs ever listen to the people? Oh well. Its star wars, so I'll keep paying (for now).

I just hit a bunch of buttons and hope everything works out.

I think your misinterprating. He said: "In order to maintain the proper combat balance of the game, it was necessary to reduce the probot armor to appropriate levels. The current probot armor was akin to what a level 150 creature would have."

When you've cooled of a bit, and read it a few times, don't you think what he said actually sounds a lot more like "the old armourof a probot was the same as the kind of armour you would've found on a lvl 150 pet." or "Level 150 critters would be expected to have an armour like that".

He does not mention the probot's damage, speed or HAM. He does not (the way I read it) talk about the probot as an entitity, at all. He is not saying that pre-patch probots are level 150 pets. He's refering to the armour and nothing but the armour.

He is saying the had the kind of armour that usually belong on level 150 pets.

This is the correct interpretation of what I was saying in the chat.

Well, you guys need to be a bit more clear.

In fact, your Dev chat has only INCREASED the number of people who think that DE's are getting new Battle Droids. I'm not going to argue semantics, but if I hadn't known better I would have taken what was said in chat as meaning you have already added some combat chassis and will be adding more in the coming weeks.

You forgot to specify whenyou mentioned them right next to DE stuff, that these are NPC's, nothing for players. Haden or someone made reference to it later in the chat, but again, if I didn't know better, I wouldn't have understood.

You needed to be much more explicit - it doesn't matter what you were trying to say it's what people are interpreting.

I really appriciate the new "invasion" live events (though, like many live events, as cool as they are, 99% of the population will never see one), but the spin that they are a big part of the invasion and not an afterthought is quite clear. Everyone expected this to be about Droid Engineers, not NPC filled dungeons and a new live event.

I think its best to drop this with you, because you are the one who won't see it from a DE point of view (and why should you really I suppose). We are in the DE forums though, I don't remember coming to your forums and spouting when the nerf bat hit you, neither would I.

Your saying he's not really "fit to debate" this issue, becauseof his bias towards the BE side of things rendering him unable to see one of the points of view this change effects.

Do I call your opinion patronizing, or do I call my third valid point?

ok so it boils down to CL10 pets are only useful for starter or novice characters. So the big question is, where are novice chars going to get the 65,000cr to pay for one of these droids.

With the level of complexity required, you have the conflict of complexity (and cost) vs usefulness

You know what really irritates me? It took them less than a day to deal with the huge outcry against the new Experimentation adjustment. There are almost 4 full pages of ppl mostly hating these new droid nerfs and yet there has only been one dev response to date and it was just affirming what one poster thought the new Droid issue meant. That's it. You know what that says to me? It says, "F**k you, players! F**k you those who pay our salaries!"

The 'droids are great if your a noob' argument doesn't work when to get a probot you need around 25k credits. I rememeber when I was a noob 25k credits was a lot of money (now, it is pocket change, but I wouldn't waste it on a Probot...my marks would make scarp metal out of it) and the first thing I got was a better weapon (now adays it'll be a vehicle). So, Ihole heartedly agree with Handsnake's assessment: droids, as they are now,are worthless to those who can afford to buy them.

Droids can be healed now. Great, wonderful, but who cares. They still won't last too long in a fight and I'm not interested in running around and healing my droid when I got an angry assassin with a vibro dagger, 10k HAM and blood in his eyes chasing me down doing a bunch of damage to me.

I really don't post that often - just lurk.

Picked up DE a few weeks ago. grinded it out, got master DE now.

I don't know about you, but from the point of a non-DE with DE skills, this is how I see it.

#1: It ain't a 'droid invasion' and the wallpaper is misleading. You guys are right to be irritated there. I was.

HOWEVER......

#2: I routinely tank with an adv. R3, using stims. It DOES do damage, and it DOES tank well. no you won't kill a rancor with it. But saying that combat droids run out of usefullness to players after a few hours is wrong.

#3: I made 400k today selling droids. I have .one. vendor. I don't advertise too hard, don't /shout spam, none of that. I have a registered droid vendor on Naboo and I sell on average 2-4 droids a day. Today was a good day, but in general, i still make about 100k a day from droid related sales.

#4: people ARE buying droid repair kits, but you need to let them know they exist :-) I put a mse droid for auction on the bizarre pointing people to look in the 'repair tools' catagory for droid repair kits. I also point out in listings that everyone can use them and they work like stimpacks. this is important. people aren't buying them because they can't find them. I sell probably 10-30 a day, not including crate sales.

Does DE need work? yes. a lot. should this have been a 'droid invasion'? without new PLAYER CONTROLLED droid models, no way. but is the state of droid engineering better after pub 7? yes.

Everything decays. My car decayed to 0 condition in august of this year, and I had to buy a new one. Your gun will decay with use, just like the clothes you wear. Are you still wearing clothes from 1995? I didn't think so. Decay is resonable. The rates, on the other hand, need to be balanced. Would you buy a car that decayed to zero condition in 6 months? Clothes that lasted 3 weeks? Doubtful.

I know that DEs will likely hang me in effigyfor backing you on this but you 187% correct. And, you have the knowledge and in-game experience to back up your statements (as both a BE and MCH).

Well said, sir. Thanks for posting this.

Respectfully,

There's a critical and important item he is missing: there is no market for low level droids. The market is saturated and is of short, very short duration. Instead of buying a worthless tissuepaper ADV Probot for 27k, the newbie player is going to buy a swoop. Then he's going to use his next 20k to buy a good weapon.

The next time he wanders into town with more than 30k, he's going to pick up some armor.

By the time he's got pocket change for a ADV Carboard Box Droid, it is useless. The money beasts (bolle bols, fambaas) when hunted kill ADV Cardboardbot's in 1 to 3 hits.

I can't sell these to sober players. I give them away to people because I have no room to keep them.

I have to stress: They are utterly worthless and have absolutely no real market. No one buys them except for comedy purposes.

THEY ARE CDEF PISTOLS THAT BEEP.

ADV Probot = CDEF PISTOL that sells for 27K

That's the utility. That's the market. THAT is what we have.

It can kills butterflies and chubas and gnorts.

The 'saleable' window for these humming pieces of floating tissuepaper is too short. Low level usefulness? Perhaps, but that period for which it is useful is only for a few hours of play.

The are effectively useless for anyone who (1) has money to spend, and (2) has been in the game long enough to be able to locate a DE using the planetary map.

The combat droids are not usable nor salable to anyone outside of someone making their own CDEF carbine to go up in Marksman.

I sell them at cost to my PA member so they can play Rockem Sockem Robots when they're all home from the bars on Friday nights. Drunk.

I have to wait until my customers are drunk in real life before they'll buy an ADV KLEENEX droid.

Woo hoo! Droid Invasion!

Please just have the devs kill us all in some ghastly, yet amusing accident.

Ok what idiot cannot see the woods for the trees..who is one-starring him?

This is an excellent statement of the DE current status (although I dont like the presentation)

Worse than that, we are supposedly CL13 now in combat balance..so the promise of both droids and combat pets is false.

Make of it what you will, I am pissed off now, even more than before.

This puss-y cat (censorship is an american fad - silly beyond silly)is growling now, well past whining.

*edit because America thinks all words mean one thing - signs of the future hell - controversial - hell yeah!

Don't blame us for censorship. Most of us hate it as much as the next guy. Blame the old, fat, white ultra concervitive Christian men that run this country. They honestly believe words hurt and if we don't allow certain words to be spoken then children will never learn them and they won't go to hell.

Kind of ironic coming from a country whose First Amendment is freedom of expression(you know, the first thing ppl think about when it comes to inalienable rights--the ones every human should have).

But, these forums are neither the time, nor the place for this...all I have to say is F**k the FCC! (A naked breast is horrible, but seeing mangled corpses on the news is ok? w-t-f?)
