That got a little muddled. To answer your question a little more succinctly, the balance would be in the scarcity of the droids. I know some people complain about the power of the AT-ST, but I think the majority of them complain about the power in relation to the cost (9000 faction points). Were AT-STs to cost 500,000 faction points I doubt many people would complain about them being too strong (certainly some people would, I admit, but I think far fewer since they would be practically non-existent)

Hmm Master Combat DE profession as the elite elite profession i don't like, would rather they but combat droid brance as the refinement branch and split assmebly, customization, and experimentation among all the trees, the all crafting stations
in the armor branch and wepon modules in the other modules branch.

sure someone can concentrate on combat droid chasis but they won't get the extra bonosus from the armor or the wepon modules. Also they have more chance of a crit failure untill they get the the other blue prints line.

Also will make sure that most new Des wouldn;t have combat droids right off as since experimentation and customization is busted people wait for last on that..

Ah, but if you were to alter the tree that way and not have an elite-elite profession then I wouldn't advocate the presence of an AT-ST level schematic. That's too much firepower to place in a 'mere' elite profession.

To clarify, my concept of Combat Droid Engineer doesn't say that regular droid engineers wouldn't build combat droids. They would, and probably quite nice droids like Troopers and Droidekas. The CDE would design the immense wardroids seen at the end of The Clone Wars and that would be used primarily for battlefields and the like (in theory).

Well, I am really referring to general levels of firepower. As people will happily point out AT-STs are not droids but vehicles (though currently they function pretty much like droids).

When I refer to AT-STs what I am really talking about is the idea that an MCDE would be capable of making something that is pretty much right at the top end on the current scale of what players could own; for a considerable amount of resources, of course.

The exact tuning of what is on the bottom or top would depend upon the resources used. However, while I do not scream and shout about it, I'm not really happy with the reports I've heard over the AT-ST's power (being able to solo 2 krayt dragons at once, for instance) and I really wouldn't think you would want anything significantly -more- powerful than that, reguardless of the resources used (just like you would never want to see 'Deathstar' show up in any vehicle crafting tree, ever, even if it required 10M Duralloy steel and the like). Thus the AT-ST would be at Master level.

if you could solo 2 krayts with one then yeah way too powerfull..

that level of power should be at the top.. But you could have lower powwed ATST at novice.. (basic ATST with 1/4 the ham 1/4 the armor at begining and these ultra atsts with the higher level modules.. even 1/4 the wepapons)

ANd not to make it too powerfull require lots of things from Weaponsmiths and Armor smiths and architcts (power core units for example) so its trully tough to build. and expensive to buy.

6000 faction points is easy to get.. player mades should take way more time then 4 hours to make.collecting resources componants.. and require the huge factories that architects need.. maybe some of the parts require 5 minutes in the hopper

and of course certs.. instead of buythe atst as actual pets you buy the certs to own them with FP and then buy from a CDE (maybe 12000fp.. which has a rank requirment in that alone)
