If this is a remnant of the crafting changes, would it then be possible to hit a 20 rating on the module?

What about the other end of the spectrum, the failures, not the Assembly Failures, but the Experiment Fails. I occasionally have failures that do not drop any stats. Infact quite a few times I will end up with the same Rated droid despite having a failure. My guess is if I hadmore ExperimentPoints I could have gotten better modules, as it would leave me with extra spots to experiment on.

It would appear that either

  1. I'm really lucky

  2. The crafting system was slightly changed after Publish 7.

  3. The crafting code from Publish 7 wasn't fully removed.

Thats right folks. I produced a 19 rated Harvesting module as well. I was doing some work on the Experimentation Section for the Droid Engineering 101 guide and got sidetracked while experimenting with the Harvest module. Icrafted approximately 50moduleswith 23% on the initial build and 85% on the final buildbefore I crafted one with 28% on the intial build and 96% on the final build.

For background information I used 964 OQ Inert Gas, 999 OQ / 947 CD Copper, and 911 OQ 589 CD Steel on all modules. I was notwearing any clothing for an Experimentation or Assembly bonus so I had the standard 100 / 100 and I was not in a Player run city. I was using a 14.97 rated crafting tool and the Crafting station installed in my DZ70.

If you will notice on the screenshots, the 28% and 23% modules were both 'a great success!' after the inital crafting process. Also take note that with the 19 rated module I have expended all of my experimentation points while the 17 rated module still has 1 point to spend.

From what I am seeing, the ability to create a higher rated item with the same materials is a random occurance and has a small chance of occuring, For those of you who are combat types, some of you may have noticed that there is a small percentage chance that you can land bleed, dizzy, or other status effect each and every time you attack. It is possible that a random modifier has been added to the game that anyone can hit upon if they try hard enough. I don't know about anyone else, but this sounds like it may be related to the Luck tree in the Senses Branch of Force Sensitivity, or it simply may be a bug. I'll spend some more time with this one back on TC, since I was using my original Toon, Drashk, to run the experiements on since he is the one with all of the Ub3r L33t resources.

P.S. The screenshots really show you how much I play my Live toons now that I've moved back to TC full time. I haven't taken the time to set up any of my GUI functions, including the tool bar.

oh. your right. the "not good" experimentation results are very inconsistent. sometimes you aretold it is a failure even though there was no loss. sometimes you are told it was a minor success even though there was some loss. but the text of those messages are inconsistent in even more fundamental ways. For example, a "moderate success" is classified as better than a "success". But a moderate version of a thing is, by definition, a lesser version. Whoever wrote that code appeared to not even know the definition of the words he/she chose to use for the messages. /shrug. I tend to ignore the text of the experimentation messages and just look at whether the bar does or does not improve each time.
