Thread: The Un-Official Just to Test the Waters Poll
if 2,3, and 4 were combined into an option like this:
anyone can use droids but certification makes you able to use better droids and DE's get an "uber droid" that gives an edge in combat and/or other skills.
That's what I vote for.
I do not like having only high PC's able to use droids.
If it comes down to it I vote for # 2.
Big fat Ditto on both counts for my vote. Droids absolutely SHOULD be useable by anyone. If we can't work the system in a combination as Bigface suggests, then #2 is the way to go.

I'd like the uber droid to suck against PVE, however I would want it to own CHs. Basically special ability against a CHs pet called "pwwn" in which the pet gets incapped with 100% wounds and loses 100 vitality points. If a CH pet attacks this "uber" droid, any damage done will be mitigated to the CH pets owner. However, in the wild a gnort could lay the smackdown on this beasty. *snickers*
I don't see a clear cut choice that many of us have talked about.
I hate the term DE-only since it infers to everyone else that no one will be able to use combat droids.
I understand what it means, in that combat creatures are CH-only.
But without the stipulation that people will be able to take some DE skills and still use combat droids, people will see that and scream NO!
I wish we would not use that term, but actually state what it means so that everyone understands and there's no confusion about what it means - DE skills to use combat droids.
Isee only one 'DE-only' option which makes this poll automatically biased towards all other options.
I'm not really declared 'DE-only' but some of the options that have been discussed by many people would probably be considered that if more careful wording were not used and these options were not expanded into real choices on any poll taken.
I also don't see the need to start another 'unofficial' poll or focus thread on the same topic every other day.
So I will not vote.
No offense. But I don't think that Drashk should use any of these unofficial focus/polls that people keep starting because none of them have really beenworded very well or provided alloptions proposed by the DE community.
I'm also fearful when a DE members 'choice' is grouped in to a broad group of only 3 or 4 categories (not this poll, previous ones) when many of the responses stated "I agree with #2, BUT.....". These types of statistics will be skewed since many of the responses agreed with a certain choice but added stipulations. The response did not agree with the choice, but wanted a modified version of the choice.
I'm afraid that information will be passed on to the devs that "This is what the community wants" when that's not really what the community wanted. Close, but not quite on target. And once it's implemented it will be very difficult to get it changed because they already addressed it once and as far as they are concerned, they delivered what was asked for.
I understand how difficult it is to try to gather and categorize responses. Manypolls need to be revised and re-taken several times before real, representative information can be collected.
I appreciate your attempt. It appears that you tried to be thorough but I don't feel that this pollreally is. And I don't think the results should be used as an indication of the DE community as a whole.
Let's wait for the ID thread and spend our time discussing this topic where it will matter.
I also wish that polls and focus threads were properly worded and revised before being stickied to the top of the forum where everyone sees them and thinks they should respond to them.
Without proper presentation they will not provide accurate results.
Progman,
While I agree that the choices here are not all inclusive, I really don't think that by increasing the number of options you will get a better feel for the pulse of the group. In my opinion, the number of items here is about twice what it should be. By increasing the number of options, you dilute the results and end up without a true quorum. 11% say option 2, 13% say option 3, 15% say option 4 and so on.
As for the results of this poll, it is clearly labelled as un-official and I don't expect anything official to come out of it. I was simply trying to stimulate the thoughts of the other DEs and "test the waters" for the rumors that have been floating around concerning the coming changes. Everyone here is free to post a poll (although it would get kinda boring), so feel free. Perhaps you can create a poll to capture the true feelings of the DEs. Based upon some of the conversations lately, I'm beginning to wonder if we can all agree on even 4 choices. ![]()
Hehe, right you are ![]()
I propose we poll individual topics instead of broad 'groups' of DE desires.
That way we can try to find out where people stand on each separate topic without trying to lump everyone in to some over encompassing group that tries to generalize some kind of 'consensus' which seems very hard to do with these subjects since they involve so many individual issues that people are divided on.
My main gripe was that these polls are supposed to garner some type of information about the DE community yet don't seem to list some topics that have shown more than just minor support in the past. And many of the issues are getting mixed together in fashions that are throwing people in to groups they don't really think they belong in.
It's also hard at this point to try to rally that much enthusiasm for yet another discussion on topics that have been debated to death over the past several months. I think it will be hard to even get a represetative of response, let alone a representative of opinions.
The questions the devs will be asking us are not "Are you a pure crafter profession" or "Are you a combat profession".
These terms mean nothing to them.
They wish to find out what features we would like added and how we would like them added so that they benefit us as a profession and the general p(l)aying public.
Perhaps if we focus on these topics and features instead of grouping the community at large, we can focus on the objectives of the devs and try to give them solid ideas and rational reasons for those ideas.
