It was Blistex that he asked people to contact, he is not community relations, but he is the Dev handling armor.

Yes it is your right to PM who you want. As a normal person right now, I can even encourage you to flood their PM boxes. Yet a Corr is not suppossed to do that.

I think that people on all sides are just so frustrated that the whole situation got blown out of proportion.

I think the problem is that most players don't realize that in fact the correspondents really have changed the coarse of the game on multiple occasions. Off the top of my head I can think of 2 major proposals from the devs that got seriously reworked after Corr. input. Now, the things that get reworked you never hear about and just happen, the things that don't get tons of attention, hence why it seems to everyone like no one is listening. The fact is they are, they just can't follow through on everything thats suggested (whether that be because of orders from above, technical reasons, or whatever).

For every instance you can recall of a Correspondent making a difference, myself or another can find 5 or more times where aside from an act of Congress, nothing could get an issue fixed, no matter how trivial.

I'm not here to bash what you've done or downplay your role, but the fact is there are professions that have the same top-5 issues now as they did when the Correspondent program began. Its not outlandish stuff like the Jedi or Bounty Hunters have complained about, but simple items.

Pikemen have had one major issue addressed since I started playing, and that was the (in)accuracy modifiers of our Vibro Lance and Long Vibro Axe. Instead of a base of -30 and -50, respectively, they were changed to -10 and -30, more or less. Now, that's great and all, but you know what the kicker is? It took the Swordsman Correspondent at the time, StGabriel, to get this fixed! Oh, it'd been a major issue for us since day 1, but as usual, we had been ignored. It was only when StGabriel noticed this during Scythe testing on TC, that he was able to get attention drawn to it.

Simply, SOE addresses the issues that affect money. It's why Jedi had two damn publishes directed towards them, while I can count on two hands the number of times the Devs popped into the Pikeman forum. Not that I even have to tell you this, you're the Pikemen of crafting(or am I the DE of melee?). The key is, perception is reality, and regardless of what you and others have done and will do, until the attitude of SOE changes, there is going to be far more issues ignored than addressed, and ultimately it will kill this game.

Crafting as we know and love, the game as we know and love it, is borked on May 5th.

What Gleemonkey wrote was a fair statement. SWG as we now it is changed fundamentally when the CU hits, from the EQ icons to the droid group borking. Some people may like the changes, but this isn't just another publish, it's a new version of the game entirely.

Those of us who liked the game as it was have a right to grieve.

I guess I am a bum on the street corner then too.

Crafting and the economy in the game wasn't broken. Combat was broken, the CU was suppossed to fix it.

Have you looked at the resource requirements for the Doc meds now? How you seen how brainless AS crafting is? Do you realise that a Nuna will one kill a crafter by his factories. Do you realise that Guard doesn't work for droids. Do you realise that the ONLY real seller for Droids after the Cu will be combat droids?

Seems like a lot of crafting changes for a combat upgrade. It's not doomsaying to say that if the current system goes live, crafting as we know it will be drastically different.

Yeah I know. I'm an optimist (most of the time) and all I see is negative posts about this CU. I realize there's lots of things wrong with it, but its stuff that can be addressed, I believe. *I believe.*

I'm sticking it out post CU, and I'll be here until they kick me out.

Unless I'm missing something, they've muted the effectiveness of combat droids by excluding them in determining group level. That leaves us with BH droids to sell.

MAJOR QFE

Through the course of my time as DE Correspondent, and as a Blue Glowie that had access to the Correspondent forums up until recently, I can attest to this statement. I can think of at least a dozen topics, off the top of my head, that were restructured due to direct Correspondent feedback.

Too many people, including the Correspondents, sometimes become trapped in themind setthat the Correspondents postion is only limited to the profession that he/she represents. The Correspondents are pulled from each respective community, but are representatives for the entire player base, not just their profession. Yes, their professions concerns are first and foremost, but they are also in the position to provide feedback to the DEVs on a cross section of the entire game.

Something else that too many people seem to forget is that even though we are the playerbase and offer feedback to the game, on different subjects, does not ensure a resolution that the playerbase will always be happy. Too many people get caught up in the idea that 'If I play this game, then I should be able to help design it as well.' This mind set comes from the type of social interactions that MMORPGs create. No where else do you see this kind of environment occuring in the gaming industry. Yes, we can provide feedback on what we, as participants of this game, would like to see changed; however it is ulitmately the game producers, in this case LucasArts, who make the final decisions on what will and will not be done.

Many times, even the people who are writing the code for SWG have their hands tied. A prime example of this would be the Raphayl memorial that was unable to make it to the game due to legalities surrounding an in-game memorial to a licensed intellectual property. If you don't know who I am refering to, check out the Fencer forum for futher details. I can think of a couple of DEVs who 'fought tooth and nail' to try and get this added to the game, but again it was ulimately LucasArts' legal department that made the final decision.
