Amazing. Truly amazing. Like many of the long-time DEs, I'd read EVERY one of those posts. That recap just brings it all up to the forefront. My sig says it all for me.

Hilarious ... well, I try to think of it as hilarious because the only alternative to laughing is to cry about how true it all is ....

Now you just need a couple folks from E! to have a half-hour special on exciting dev wardrobe choices at the ceremony .....

Thank you Virtanis. I've been meaning to make a chronological post like this, but always got madder the more I worked on it. You made my day.

Too late for another entry?

In the "Droid Engineers Are Still Waiting…" category,a late nomination for best Developer post:

-Thunderheart 01/30/2004 "Hey now...I've been playing sincethe very beginning and have never stopped.I know and understand the pain intimately. I think we all want cool utility droids AND new combat droids. The reality is that making a strong addition of utilities droid modules to the game is a 7-8 week process and thats not a possibility at the moment.

Right now, publishes are scheduled for 4 week periods with a week overlap for QA and QC. There isn't any time on the 2004 schedule to just stick in another month of development (though we all would like to)."

____________

There isn't time in the 2004 schedule to add something that was actually part of a thread that was started in beta? Reference

You may know it in its newest form, Centralized Droid Issues, stickied at the top. As far as history goes, we had ideas on the wishlist for utility long before any ideas for a new Droid profession were dreamed up.

This one at least deserves honorable mention.

In the "Droid Engineers Are Still Waiting…" category,a late nomination for best Developer post:

-Thunderheart 01/31/2004- The trick is that there will be NO modules that "add bonuses" or enhance abilities. If the devs did that then we're getting back into the "extra checker" scenario. Further more, players can stack modules and start getting really unfair bonuses.

In essence though, there are a lot of profession specific modules that can be offered. Implementing them in the game will be tough though...

Heh, yeah... I already responded to this by asking: "how do you explain artisan made weapon powerups??"

I'm sure I'll get no response.....

HAhaHAha!!!

Stop it, I just wet myself.

So now we see how you're spending your new-found spare time....

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."
