No Jenden. Despite the fact that any DE worth his salt will find a back pack essential; despite the fact that re-equipping your backpack requires that you only have 10 items in your inventory (impossible for any DE wjo is also crafting at the time); the only new droid content in the game ever as far as I can tell, requires you to unequip youir backpack.
Contructive suggestion: Next time make it a toolbelt.

Really, Jenden? So I can unequip a backpack in my house (assuming enough space). And to re-equip it i only need to click on it in the house and /equip? Pls elaborate.

Actually, if the backpack is in a house you can just target it and use /equip (makes moving things around so much easier....) As much of a pain in hte ass as a bandoleer is, it works out better for me than a belt. I've got my +25 experimentation belt, I can always find a place to stash the pack if I'm making a big order in my shop (once I finally get rid of some crap...)
Dang it. I researched this recently but did not turn up this answer. Would have saved me craploads of time in moving my houses recenlty.

Yep, remember seeing this one on a tuesday tip thread onetime. All you have to do is target the backpack and use the /equip command. You cannot have anything equiped in that spot. This works for any clothing/items that can be equipped. Don't know how many headaches this has saved me.

That, of course, assumes that you have room for 50 additional items in your house. Which I do not. In *either* of my houses. I can't afford to use any more plots for storage houses, either, because I mine my own resources and need the plots for harvesters.
Meh. It's a nice idea, but making it take the place of a backpack was a really poor choice unless it can be used like a backpack. +5/+5/+3 just doesn't come anywhere close to making up for 50 spaces of portableinventory.
I don't half the time either. I've got a PA hall taking up most of my lots, couple factories, even have 2 friends who through up some houses to store our collective junk in... I think we're up to 8 or so houses full of stuff now, plus my 3 factories are all packed. They really need to boost the storage in a PA hall, 250 items for 7 lots just isn't right
Sorry to be necropheliac-ing here, but I have a question related to the following:

My question is: Why can't they put storage for 50 items in the Droidsmith's Tookkit? There is 50-item-storage available in the Mercenary Bandolier which is a reward item for the (neutral) Pirate Pilot's first quest!
eh? eh? Devs want to answer this please?

That would actually make these useful! Who has a dev's ear to request this?

I wholeheartedly agree! What do you think, Drashk?I know that sashes and Bandoliers having the ability to hold items are one of the Tailor Correspondents issues.
Now that we are seeing a Bandolier that can hold 50 items, as part of Tier 1 Privateer reward, we may see Bandoliers and Sashes with storage in the future.
That would be most welcome! Thanks for the response, Drashk!
