Explanations


1. HoloGraphic Communications/Recording Module- Many have suggested Holographic recording but, why not Real-Time Holographic communications. Perhaps this would run into server issues however just translating the a single characters physical attire is not that much information. One might even have to be in a Players Guild to get an uplink to the inter-system satelite network, which would limit number ofusers usingit at one time therebyundermining server strain. (Heres great potential for Space content.)


2. Survey Module - This would require droid autonomy, which is something ought be addressed. Naturally, only a skilled surveyor could get good results, maybe the better the surveyor the more resources the droid would be able to detect in one run. To operate the user would give the bot a waypoint and a specific resource to search for in that direction. Distance would be limited by battery life. The droid would run a straight line to the waypoint and return with a data disk that once activated in your datapad would paint the efficeincies on a new layer on the world map.


3- Scout/Probe Module or Brain - Use of this would be restricted to master scouts or maybe Rangers. The user would give the droid the destination waypoint and signal it to scout. The droid would stay about 100m in front of the user and would give a warning of upcoming hostiles.


4- Field Command Module or Brain - This would provide extra programs that could be used in combat. It would grant the user commands such as retreat, attack mob, special attacks, and if the module was installed self-destruct. Pets have special attacks like bleeding, makes since that the probot with its dangling sharp probes could spin attack and cut its foe to pieces.


5- Self-Destruct Module - This mod would only be prudent if a effective decay system was implemented first. You can repair a weapon or armor several times but eventually the lowmax condition renders it to junk. It would be cool if after youve exhautedrepairing the droidit could do one final, devastatingblow. Might need components from a Weaponsmith tomakethis.


6- Calculator/Calendar Module - This module would be usefull for Merchants and harvestors alike. It would allow thean R-4to plug into a harvestor and sync its data. Then it could alert you when you need to check up on them,allow you to calculate efficiency, and keep records.


7-Slicing Module - I see alot of people asking for the slicing module but we dont want to step on the Smuggler's toes. This mod should only be implemented in addition to missions that require interfacing with large mainframes, to getlair blueprintsor disable automated defences. Smugglers can keep opening doors and slicing mission terminals exclusively, perhaps with better results with the aid of R2 unit.

It's all about skill enhancement! Make me at making droids because I have a droid assembly skill enhancement module in my droid. Make a marksman better with a boost to accuracy at range, thanks to a ranged weapon support module installed in a combat utility droid (heavily armored, no offensive capability).


I want to see MANY profession-specific modules, give people a REASON to want droids with multiple slots, and make sure that nesting of socket clusters wtihin socket clusters is stopped.

construction droids: they work like a factory, but produce only at 20% speed of a factory, dont cost maintance but need to be recharged.

Advertisement/Sign Droid. Basically a flying double sided LCD screen with a droid brain. Can only be deployed and operated in cities where they travel a set of waypoints displaying a message on their LCD screens specified by the owner. That messaage can scroll text that contains numbers and special characters (i.e. /waypoint 5000 -6000). They should fly high enough that players can ignore them and pass right underthem if they want to. Unlike other droids, these must continue operating even while the owner is signed off. Probably need to have a maintenance pool like a harvester for both credits and power to keep things reasonable. Needs to have the ability to download to a player's datapad a waypoint or set of waypoints. Players can request this service by clicks on the sign droid and request it from its radial menu.

Might increase the clutter feel of some cities but look at some of the opening scenes from Ep. II. Lots of sign type advertisement was in use in the capitol.

Here is a simple solution to making the droids more unique: bonus multipliers!


You can still install any module in any droid, but....



  • medical modules get an additional100%bonus when installed in a surgical droid

  • repair modules get an additional 100%bonus when installed in anLE repairdroid (once they work)

  • storage modules get an additional 100% bonus when installed in a binary load lifter. etc. etc.

I agree that the idea that specific modules used in specific droids could get a boost:


IE: Med module in med droids gives a +50% efficiency rating (so a med module in an R2 would give a +60%, a med module in a med droid would get a +90%). That gives all droid chasis versatility, but still allows the droids that are desgined to do the job do it better.


As far a survey droid is concerned, is an awesome idea. The problem is that the Devs will say that this reases the use for a surveyor. I would suggest that only people with the survey profession could use these droids. It would be like a certification, but not really (I mean you need to be a medic to usea med droid right?)


Combat droids and slicer droids are a must too. Slicer droids could give a bonus to slice, or allow slicers to do different things that they cannot do without that droid.

My wish-list:


1) Droids: Droidekas,Battle Droids,Super Battle Droids,Pit Droids,Sparring Droids


2) Skill Enhancing Modules: Slicing, Entertainer, Translator (my idea is that they do not actually do the skill for you but enhance the users skill, smugglers might worry too much if suddenly droids can do their job, and why should a dancer get dancing xp if the droid is doing the dancing, etc)


3) More specific weapon modules: differing types of blaster, knives, etc to further customize combat droids

waiter module! goes thru a home offering drinks and appetizers!


hmmm other than that home/house repair/maintence module reduce the cost of a home's maintence


factory droid module - makes the droid make small or low complexty items that are identical great for those wpnsmiths and DE's on the go.


....and cant forget to say add portable datapad to games and make the droid datapad more useful.

ideas, not my own, from another thread, forplayer combat-related modules


Radar jamming: you could tell the droid to fuzz up or reduce the radar range of opposing faction members within a certain radius (how far, how fuzzy, and your own radar penalty could be determined by module quality)


Radar spoofing: could tell the droid to spoof ghost images of red dots onto the opposing players' radar. Same quality issues. A poor quality module might end up spoofing onto a teammate's radar.



I loved this idea when I saw someone write it up. Any element added to PVP that requires you to keep your wits about you as a fighter increases the realism and makes it less of a brute-force decisionbetween players. Anot-so-smart masterCH with a graul mauler (example only) might not evaluate thepossibility that a red dot is a spoof, and might make a unilateral decision toabandon the team andgo stupidly running off after ghosts because s/he cares more about personal status than about effective warfare. Trickiness and battle smarts (NOT exploits, but using real combat tools and developing strategy to outwit and outfight) would greatly improve the game.

Some ideas (nothing new I think):



  • fighting practice droid (or module): the droid would project a hologram of a choosen npc/creature. Player(s) can fight this npc/creature like if it is a real one but no xp granted (and no DB if the player(s) get incap). The point is to allow to train vs a choosen npc/creature. In addition, the available pratice target type could be proviced by a Bio Engineerinthe form ofDNA samples that would be placed into the droid (so this could open a market for BE too).

  • Remote structures control module: The droid owner can access remotely to the control menus (admin list, maintenance, status,...) of all the structures he owns (houses,harvs,factories,...). Only 'intangible' operations can be performed (ie no power/resourcesinput/output on harvs/factories).

  • Cloning module: Any player in droid range can use it to set/change his clone binding location. Either to the closest cloning facility from the droid location or to any available cloning facility on the planet (this could depend on the module level). Cloning should cost a bit more than in cloning facility ($2000 for instance).

  • music broadcasting module:The droid owner can hear a choosen background music (no mind healing or whatever). The available tunes could be loaded into the droid in form of music data objectscrafted by entertainers/musicians (new market for them).

want a merchant droid, one that will do 2 main functions

  1. When people click on him to convers it will have a script the merchant wrote like "Hello, I am programed to direct you to IooCam's, they sell X Y Z. Would you like me to send you a way point? I can also allow you to send an email to my master"

    • Yes, send me the waypoint - they send a email that the merchant wrote with the way point.
    • No thank you - Says,"Well thank you for your inquery"
    • Send an Email - The client pops up with the owners name, and subject "Droid Inquery".

  2. You be able to set there name like you would a harvester, so You can use more than one word.

In order to make this thing fair, It will count as a pet, and is only active when the owner is on. It should also have a skill check, like level 3 Ad or so.


It should not just yell stuff (that would drive me nuts) and maybe only a prodical droid type.
