Sorry?, You expect me to wade through that thread and link you directly to the info because you're to lazy to do it yourself? You're the one who's been making all the fuss, so why don't you put in a bit of effort and do the work yourself if it means that much to you.

Ah, but this is the genius of his posts - he must know that he is re-writing history. So, all he has to do is make these crass statements, and then tell us to do hours of work to disprove them. In the meantime, people who don't follow the DE forums regularly read his posts, and walk away with misconceptions.

I have disagreed - strongly at times - with some people on these boards. But I have never found anyone who makes such distasteful, non-constructive posts as Arden does.

Well, i suppose the fact that all he can do is make personal attacks says it all about his argument, there such a lot of material for a psychologist in his posts.

Wow, great post Drashk.

You have clearly laid out the Dev's requirements in a non-vague, non-speculative manner. One may actually consider it informative. I sure hope you dont get drummed out as Correspondent for it. Why couldnt they have done that weeks ago?

The only problemI have is that the requirements are stacked to force a DC profession. Runesabre basically said they wouldnt put in a poorly implemented profession. So I guess that means the only way combat droids will appear is for them to spend the time in the Space Expansion developing a full fledged profession. That or there will never be combat droids.

The second class of droids that are part of the challenge are the high end combat droids that players can spend points to earn the right to use such droids. The amount of skill box points and experience points that a player spends to have this droid operating ability is very important. Here again, the analogy to creature handlers is identical. Creature handlers spend skill points for the high end creatures; that is why they get the combat advantages. They pay points and earn experience for the privilege.

The key design challenges are:

The cost of droids (ala having them as power pets and combat tools) has to counterbalance the combat advantages they give to the player. The core advantages are:

The power level of the pets
Number of pets (droids in this case)

The design has to fit into the existing skill/experience point scheme

The first approach is to take the existing Droid Engineer and re-vamp it so that it changes from solely a crafting profession to a hybrid profession. This profession would be half crafting and half combat droid operating. The majority of the Droid Engineers have stated that they prefer it to be a crafting only profession so development has discarded this as an option. (I mis-spoke on the Droid Handler issue. My apologies).

There is the quote that you have been looking for. It doesn't read, The DE Correspondent has stated, it reads the Majority of the Droid Engineers have stated. Its exactly where a few Community memebers made suggestion to look. Since the idea of turning DE into a hybrid profession was hinted at by Sintrosi, the majority of the DE community has stated that they are not in favor of turning DE into ahybrid profession. I'm sorry that you feel slighted because you want to become a hybrid profession, but your opinion is in the minority. Majority of all DE, that aren't the hologrinder varity, joined the profession to craft droids and not to be a combat profession. Don't take my word for it. Read the hundreds of threads that have been written and debated on the DE fourm for well over 6 months now.

The Smuggler analogy is flawed for one simple reason. That profession was designed to function that way and has been a combat profession since release. The same can be said for Combat Medic, Scout, and Ranger. All of those professions have combat related skills and can craft items. This makes all of the difference in distinguishingthe differences between the two issues.

I have recieved backlash because I have stated my personal opinions, but even majority of the people who have spoken against my opinion have actually admitted I have shown the ability to differentuate between my own personal ideas and the wishes of the Community. For you to state that the Droid Commander profession was dropped because people circumvented me is another falsehood that you have decided to spread. If it were true, I would never have stickied TKs DH poll, I would have never made a post in the Correspondents fourm stating that the DH profession would piss off the DE community and I would never have created 2 seperate Cert system ideas and put them forth in the Community.

The number of DE that I threw out there is actually a lot lower then the actual number of DE, hologrinders included. Do the math for yourself. There are an average of 10-20 dedicated Master Droid Engineers per server. For every 1 Master Droid Engineer there are3-7 Novice DE. For every Novice DE there are 2-3 holo DE. Ask any of the DEA server leaders and you will find out that the numbers are pretty close. If you want more proof, take a look at the number from the most recent roll call. There are 300+ DE that visit this community. The percentage of Forum users to non-Forum users for any MMORPG is 5-10%. There were more than 7k DE long before hologrinders were ever around and the number of DE has actually grown since then.

Each and every Correspondent has had at least one person that has spoken out against him/her at some point in time. Each time there is a CSR, Admin, or DEV lurking around reading the comments being made.If there was fact behind any of the acustations being made by anyone, the Correspondent would be notified. This Community has seen proof that the DEVs, Admin, and CSRs keep an eye on the Correspondents conduct and will lock or delete posts made by a Correspondent that do not promote the well being of a profession. (Case in point - Sintrosi's angry post a few months back. :smileysadIf I was not doing my job as Correspondent correctly, or if I was pushing for my own agenda ahead of the Communities wishes, the DEV team, Administrators, or even CSR would call me on it and I would be replaced. Since my name is still blue and glowie, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the DEVs do not feel that my personal opinions have clouded the information that I have reported to the DEV team.

I will step down from the Correspondents postion if any of the SOE crowd asks me to, a large number of the DE community requests it of me, or a certain CommunityVeteran asks me to. Until then, I will still do the job that I was chosen to do,to the best of my ability, andin the manner that was requested of me - which included remaining an active and vocal part of this community no matter what.
