This line is classic. And so true. LOL.

As for JustG's comments, this was right before they stopped the "monthly" publishes and went to numbering them.... Makes me wonder if his comments were carefully worded?

Scene: Bridge of the USS Enterprise

Cast: The Original Crew of the Star Trek series, circa 1969. Spock as science officer at his workstation, Chekov navigating, Sulu at the Helm, Uhura at communications, Captain Kirk in the captain's chair, and Dr. McCoy right behind him. Assorted red-shirts at other various stations.

(Focus in on main viewer... the usual scene of stars zipping by...)

(Voiceover, Capt. Kirk): "Captain's log, supplemental. While on a routine patrol through the Theta Orion 5 system, we receiveda strange radio communication from an alien planet. Records indicate that this system is devoid of sentient life but with reports of Klingons in the area, I've decided to investigate the onlyplanetin the system, a desolate, wasted planet."

Captain Kirk: Standard orbit Mr. Sulu.

Sulu: Aye aye Captain.

Captain Kirk (swiveling in his chair): Spock, lifesigns?

Spock (peering into his scanner, blue glow lighting up his eyes): There are faint life signs coming from a small location in the northern hemisphere. They might be sub-humanoid.

Uhura (interrupting, hand touching her communications earpiece): Captain, we're receiveing a signal!

Captain Kirk: On audio...

Audio:

"I will tell you this, Droids (and DE's) are going to be the MAIN feature for the January publish. We will be fixing alot of things and adding combat droids."

Captain Kirk: Spock...?

Spock: Analyzing... (pauses) It appears to be a verycrude form of communication, apparently from a primitive race of subhumanoid beings that once inhabited this planet. Captain, from further analysis, it appears that this planetharbored aonce a thriving people called the SOElians, with promising technology and great aspirations. They apparently self destructed into a chaotic mass of lies, ineptitude, and failure. I'm analyzing further...

Dr. McCoy: They sound like gibbering hyenas to me.

Captain Kirk: Are they dangerous?

Spock: I'm detecting a small communications array on the planet capable of launching attacks known as "patches" toward us. Further computer analysis shows that this form of weapon has the ability to wreak havoc on shipwide systems, make life support systems inoperable, and make you warp 10 feet after sitting in your captain's chair.

Captain Kirk: (Seriously shocked and alarmed) Red alert! Shields up! Ready Photon Torpedos!

(The familiar klaxxon alarm of 'Red Alert' sounds, Sulu quickly prepares the ship for battle)

Dr. McCoy: Jim, why don't we launch a warning buoy and just quarantine this planet?

Spock: Captain, the threat to the Federation is greater than we had imagined. If they happened to take control of this ship, they would have access to space... something they just haven't been able to develop on their own. Additionally, the universe might cease to exist, from 4am to 6am solar time, every day, and at random times throughout the day.

Captain Kirk: We can't let this threat exist, Sulu... Target their installation. Fire at will!!

Sulu: Firing phasers!!

[as Sulu's finger hovers over the phaser trigger (and Chekhov again asks himself "Isn't that my job? He's the **edit** helmsman?") we fade to a commercial for the exciting new '72 Chrysler Cordoba, and Ricardo Moltalban assures us that "Corinthian Leather" has nothing to do with any "Genesis Device" ..... two minutes later ...]

Sulu: Phasers inoperative, sir!

Kirk: Spooock?

Spock: (Looking into glowie visor) Computers are down, Captain ... we were unable to avoid the 'patch' attack, and all systems have either locked up, or are reverting to something called a 'desktop'? I am at a loss to explain it ... it is highly illogical.

Kirk: Bones?

McCoy: What? I'm a doctor, not a CSR.

Kirk: (Looking up at viewscreen with face twisted into rage: Xaaaaaaaahhhhhnnnnnn!

With all fairness, I do believe JustG also said that it would come in waves, and that it wasn't all happening at once.

If everyone remembers, the current "situation" happened when TH said the Droid Invasion was slightly delayed because we were all so very clear that we wanted a DH profession.

So I wouldn't blame JustG for the delay in the time table, I'd blame whatever celestial body that somehow morphed our opinions from what they were to, "We want a DH class!"

However, the time table is not of much concern to me - it's more that many of us have already been waiting for six months or more for DE to be fixed, only to be told, "Nope! We are gonna add a new profession for you to be a slave to, and your new droids are only going to be usable by them! This is what you have been waiting for!"

Disapointed isn't strong enough a word...disgusted is somewhere on the right path. I just stopped into the forums today to see if the "uberpost" (which will be mythic by the time it arrives) had happened.

But then I read the big smuggler post and just wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry - "What do you want? What do you want? What do you want?" I can't imagine what in that posting needed any approval from anyone, because there was nothing there. I read it three times, and got absolutely no new information.

I fear this will happen with whatever we seem to be waiting for - and if it is, I don't think I'll be the only one saying ""See ya, wished I'd never met ya" to the DE profession.

Six months is a very long time, especially in a video game. To think that the big changes I was waiting for was this is enough to make me wish I had never heard of SWG.

Funny, Virtanis...glad to have you as a resident at Elderhome.

Anyhow, patch notes from the TC forum for anyone interested. Pretty much for DE's is the same stuff Drashk posted last week:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!!!!!

So VEHICLE customization is added and works.

But DROID customization still doesn't work after months.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!!!!!

*sob*

Progman,

You may laugh now...but these are the same Devs that are going to bring us the much better solution of a DM/DM profession.

Are we all feeling good yet about how this going to go down?

If you're not, I think you're about as guilty of not paying attention as the Devs are...

You thought we had problems now....just you wait...

For those who haven't figured it out yet....

If a Dev says "its our priority" it really means they talk about it over beers at the local bar after work....

If a Dev gives amonth in which something will be fixed, pressure him to give you the year as well.....

If a Dev says "communication is our number 1 issue", it means the patch notes outlining the current updates nerfs will be up within the week....

If a Dev says " ((a profession or the like)) are going to be the MAIN feature for the ((month, but get the year if you can)) publish", you should insert [totaly screwed] after 'feature' in the sentence.......
