Thread: Droid Report: Droid Reconstruction Kits unusable by non-DEs (info from Devs)
Note: We were still right to shoot it down, by the way.
yes. but lets not forget that in the end they didn't say "we pulled back on our plans because DE's shot it down". They said "we pulled back on those plans because we realized it wasn't a good idea to add yet another profession to the game when so many of the existing professions still need work."
Boy, he said that a lot better and less rantingly than I. /applaud; /5star

Yup. That was one of the big reasons I had for why it should not be done. I think that our 'voice' validated their thinking or vice versa. Either way, it seems the DEs and the Devs did actually agree on something.

Unfortunately, it led to us not getting the CL10+ combat droids that so many players thought we were going to get.

Respectfully,
This goes back to my point about why do we have Reconstruction B's,C's, and D's ...and respective Advanced components?
Why not just have 1 kit that does it all for us?
I can't ever see making anything more than Reconstruction kit -A's with basic components. Even then, I think I'll make them by hand when I do make them.

Because once upon a time, when they designed the stims and wound packs, there were going to be bigger and better combat droids.
Then SOE decided they could not fit them into the game balance, and decided to make them monsters and NPCs instead. /sigh
Now we have some seriously overpowered repair and reconstruction kits.
Let's call this for what it was...

They were on track to add CL10+ droids. It was the DEs and player community that shot down the method they were going to use to add them.
Be fair, Kilarny. I don't like it any better than any of you...but we need to be real about what went down.

Respectfully,
- 110 med rating
- storage
- crafting stations
there is simply no reason to own a droid other than those three. and the new utility modules the devs are pitching are horrible horrible ideas:
- Barker droid: yay, more spam for everyone to read /rollseyes
- Covert Faction Scanner Disabler: Fact is people in PvP use TEF more than they use scanners
- Entertainer module: After getting Jedi becomes quest based, there will be 5% of the current entertainer population left. 1% of that will use this module.
- Exploding droid module: I'm not going to even explain how dumb this is.
Of all the good ideas they could do, these will be the ones that make it to live. I believe that "unbalancing" and "gamebreaking" when applied to the DE profession really means "if players want to own a droid and it's useful to them, it's unbalancing and gamebreaking".
Well damn me for being English and miss a hot topic (and I'm not about to read through over 30 replies) but DAMN ... all I can do is laugh.
The devs decide to go to all the effort in artwork, coding and crafting additions of adding 4 craftable repair units INSTEAD of just allowing DE's to call a second droid which would, in fact, require the change of one number in one string of coding to "2"
I stand amased yet again.
How long before droid batteries are made so that only DE's can use them since "we cant call a second droid to power our own droids"?

I thought about complaining about this.I thought about being angry that I couldn't heal my own droids wounds. But then I remembered that my own droid sucks and I never use it because it's worthless. I got it for the novelty of having a "Combat Droid". I used it once to fight another droid that same day, and haven't had it out since.
So, it's not a big deal for me.
anymore I've come to realize that Droids will probably only be good for 3 things:
- 110 med rating
- storage
- crafting stations

Please keep in mind, some of us actually like the new combat droids. Given time, they will eclipse non-CH pets as companion tanks of choice.
