Thread: LOOKING FOR DEs ON AHAZI

Ellesa,

Keep in mind that some people remove the "Make me searchable" option. So, they might be online but just not seen by that tool.

There is no way to find out who is online on a server-wide basis.

The Character Search tool only shows you characters on the planet you are on at the time.

I think it's even more limited than that. If you search while in a city you only get who's in that city. So I'd gather it's a list of who is on that particular server of that particular planet. I really wish they had a /who all <planet> or /who all <profession> rather than doing /who profession and only getting your general area. The chat system is so fubar that I doubt it could handle listing all of the results anyway.

Two things:

1) I hate this forum sometimes.

2) I was referring to the "Search" tool in the Character Sheet (Ctrl-P), not the "/who" tool.

Okay....cool.

Then, we're on the same 'page'.

The tool in question shows you players on a planet-wide basis, not just the city you are in...

Planet-wide.

the search tool just pushes the /who command with the parameters that you specify to the chat client. I know what you meant, and it's really the same thing. so let me restate it. if you use search (crtl-P, search tab) to find anyone or any profession, you only get results for the particular server on the particular planet. You don't even get teh entire Planet.

I have known that a few other DE's have been online and on the same planet as me (on my friends list or just ran by them), used it and only got myself because I was all the way out in the boon docks checking harvestors. If your out in the field, you won't get results from those DE's in cities, if your in a city you won't get results from anywhere other than that city, and _maybe_ the outlying area of that city.

I do a search for any bounty hunters on a regular bases while I'm passing through town, and I only ever see results for that town. I know there are definatly bounty hunters in other towns (especially Theed when I'm in Kaadara)

This chat system needs MAJOR rework. but I can live with it while they fix our profession and balance the game first.

I have heard various numbers from 800 meters to 2000 meters, but my own totaly unscientific observations indicate that any kind of search has a maximum active radius of about 1200 meters. As has already been stated, that maximum radius is further limited by city borders, so you might literally have someone in sight yet not be able to search for them because they're on the "wrong" side of a border.

Well, I can personally say that the distance it allows has to be about 8-10km at least.

I've been able to stand in the Labor Outpost on Yavin 4 and 'see' players that are at the Mining Outpost (on the far side of the planet).

Oh well....whatever. We have much larger issues at hand, obviously.

Hey all,

Seems to be a lot more Ahazi DE's now since I've build my list, looking at the posts here and from JordJord's professions list.

Anyhow, I'm definitely interested in attending this meeting, please let me know if you guys set a time.
