Thread: Humbling asking for DE Support to the Architect Community

Here is a little cut and paste action for another thread that may help to clarify a few issues with the DSCs.
From what I gather about the programming of this game, this is statement is incorrect. As I posted on it Saturday, chaning the profession experimentaion values is much more invloved then changing a single value. When the experimentation being used is changed all aspects of the part in question are changedc as well. DE depends mostly on OQ and DE on sub components. When the experimentation value was changed from Artisan to DE, the resources values changed as well, due to how the code is changed. If SWG was a simple BASIC program, a programmer could get away with changing a few values here and there in the code. SWG is vastly more complex a program and has many many layers that can be effected by even the smallest change. From all indications thatI have read from the DEVs, changing the experimenation values on the DSCs could only be accomplished by also changing the resource requirements as well.
TH is not blaming the community for anything. He is only stating the fact that the DE community has asked for the change to DSCs since the first Centralized Droid Issues were written. What everyone really needs tobe aware of is that chaning an existing system will always have some sort of consequince on theprogramming side ofthings thatmay not bring about exactly what the community intends. The Communityasked for the change, but due to how thegame code is written and layered, a change that seems so smallto thegame user is a large undertaking for theDeveloper. The 'simple' change to the DSC is a prime example of how complex this game really is.
This has nothing to do with me other than I buy driods, and Im not a fan of Thunderjoke.
What you wrote Drashk is excatly whatThunderjoke should have wrote in the first place, why is it that players can express to the community how things work, and why they do, 1000 times better than Thunderjoke?
IMO its because he can't do his job, partly his fault, and part SOE's, by thinkingone man can handle everything he has to, and hiring him to do it...
Thunder,
In the DE forum you posted that "There is a LOT of code under the hood and a lot of these changes take a lot of work. In many cases, we can't pick and choose every attribute. As it stands, this is part of the larger changes to experimentation."
Why can't you pick and choose every attribute? It seems like an odd design flaw.

I think this is a misinterpretation. I am meaning code and script attributes and not the attributes you see from "inside" the game...
On the bright side, at least they tell you things in your forum. For months we had to cut and paste changes in our profession from the CH forum...
No, Limbonik, it is most certainly NOT better than nothing.
Actually, in my view, the communication here is significantly better than nothing. Case in point, about a month ago I tried out another MMO. The forums were unhelpful; they weren't even hosted by the MMO's company, rather they were over at IGN. And you had to subscribe to IGN to have posting permission.
The game itself may or may not have been better. I only played it once, and in that one time it was decent, but I returned here for the sake of knowing what's going on. At least, knowing more of what's going on than I do in a game whose developers are quieter than a muffler in a vacuum.
I agree with you in the general case, but in this specific case the communcation was misleading in a way that caused Droid Engineers to become a target for controversy. I think that no communcation is better than wrong (or misleading) communication, because at least no communication does no directharm.

It's called copy and pasteing code. It is a cheap dirty and quick way to do things. That is why you havethe problem we have now andwhy you don't copy and paste code. If all you are going to do is copy paste code, then that can be outsourced to India where their programers get paid half what a janitor gets paid in the US.
as an aside...
did or do DSC's show ratings...
as an architect, i just dont bother to make stations because i have no idea about the quality of those compartments or the chips i also needed. i just wont buy anything from anyone else unless i cans ee the ratings....i just dont trust the fact they named it "98%!!!!!!!! Componet"
If we are forced to buy items from other professions the quality should be displayed

New architects can't compete with old ones? Are you seriously making that argument? Is the crafting station market so lucritive that this is an economy breaking issue for you? I've been an architect since June and I certainly don't rely on crafting station sales to pay the rent, in fact, in 8 months, I think I have gotten 2 requests for a 40+ station to be made. Geez, can we possibly find some other things to complain about?
Wow, I'm amazed that you seem to have a problem with a crafter trying to achieve a pinacle in this game. There's not much else for us, is there?
