Thread: All DE's please help! Droid prices!
STUPID BOARD I CAN'T EDIT MY POST ... OK let's continue...
Also when thinking of a price for each Droids I looked for 2 markets : the Bazaar and the Shops. For me, using only the "instant" sales, prices stops at 3000 on Bazaar. After reading your posts I now thinkI should only sell Novice/Lv1 Skills Droids on Bazaar (that is MSE Mouse / R5 / DZ70 / Seeker, and Arakyd Probe being an exception at 2k/3k for our beloved Bounty Hunters :-). --->
From Blueprints 2 I raised the prices a little and did it for Service modules too, so I can't sell them on instant Bazaar anymore, only to my shop. Each time I put a Droid on sale, I cut/paste my Shop Ad in description.
Now 2 last things arethe Local Market and the DevsPatchfactors.
1st onein our case areyour Galaxy & Planet offers. After 3 months I think each major town of each Galaxy have at least 1 D.E. Shop or a Mall. So I should apply a % modifier on my price depending on how much my market is saturated.
2nd last factor is the MAGIC one ;-) This is the mysterious Force called The Patch... Each update can boost or nerf any of our products at any time, without warning (except for those of you on valium reading EVERY post on SWG Forums). Who knows, maybe one day a DZ70 will really be a newbie Combat Droid, or a Protocol Droid will really be usefull... or an MSE Mouse will become CUTE at last ;-)

Thanks Marc, Nailliar and Jonas for your answers...
Basically I put up this list with our Skill tree in mind, as I stated I'm only at 1.1.0.3 and I didn't even examined ressources needed for Adv Models (Master Artisan parts, rare ore/steel...).
I started by fixing a base price for each Blueprint from Novice to Master (like 500 for Novice, 1000 for Blueprints 1, etc...). Then I added a sort of "tech" tax and a "coolness" tax(1st one being the number of Modules/Armor/Fonction for the Droid, 2nd for the usefullness and the -Sacred Cow I've got my own ArtooDeetoo !- factor ;-) . Everyone will have its own theory on how a Droid looksKEWL, some finds MSE Mice are cute with their Crafting stations inside, others willprobably pay much more for the same Crafting Station inside a R5, R4 or R2...

I know you're not making them yet, but for the mid-range droids, your Still Way low. R2/ R3units sell for 20-35k depending on std. vs. adv. models and the module loadout. Probots 12-25k depending on std. vs adv. and modules and armor, Protocols. 15-35k depending on std. vs. adv. andmodule loadout. BLL's 30-55k depending on std. vs. adv. These numbers are just off the top of my head from what Ive seen posted and in shops, and are from Masters only, so figure in lvls 4-6 modules at a minimum.
You have to remember also that the resources to make many of these high end droids and armor has only just spawned on Intrepid in the last 2-3 weeks. Don't forget to figure in rarity, those same resources are gone again as of the last shift. You're time is also important to add in, a little thing called opportunity costs, use that to figure the value of your time, how much could make running missions in the 20 mins it takes to make an adv. R2 from scratch.
Updated list... with examples
Droid Type, Price without modules (adv model)
MSE Mouse : 500 (+200)
DZ70 : 1500 (+500)
R5 : 1500 (+500)
Seeker (10) : 1000
Power Droid : 4000 (+2000)
R4 : 2500 (+2000)
R2 : 6000 (+5000)

Arakyd (5) : 2000
Surgical : 5000 (+5000)
LE Repair : 5000 (+5000)
R3 : 8000 (+7000)
Protocol : 6000 (+7000)
Binary Lifter : 6000 (+7000)
Modules (per level, add to Droid price) :
Medical : 100 / 400 / 900 / 1900 / 3400 / 5900
Store/Data : free / 300 / 600 / 1000 / 1800 / 3900
Crafting Station : Weapon-Droid: 400 / Food-Chemical: 600 / Clothing-Armor: 900 / Structure: 1400
Armor (per level, add to Droid price) : 500 / 900 / 1900 / 3400 / 5400 / 9900
So my "WS/DE Pocket Station" (MSE Mouse + Weapon/Droid Crafting station) is 900.
My "Dr gRRRRRene Unit" (yes, that's 5 Rs cause it's a R5 Unit with Lv2 Medical Mod, sorry ;-) is 1900.
My "Dr RRoss Unit" (R2 with Lv2 Medical Mod and Food/Chemic Crafting Station) will be 7100.
My "Rambot II" (sorry again, had to do it, a Probot with Lv2 Armor) is 12900... and the Rambot IV will be 15400.
The price you set for a droid shouldn't be defined by other users, it should be defined by your profit margin.
For instance, assume you want to make a PROFIT of 10k for each droid you sell.
You then have to add up the price it has cost you for all resources and components of the droid, then add 10k to that price.
For me, this is how I would work it out:
Order:
1 R2 unit with med module / weap crafting station / Item storage
Sub components:
Electronics GP module
Advanced droid brain
Sensor Socket
Manipulator Arm package
Motive System
Medical Module
Item Storage Module
Weapon Crafting Station
Droid Chasis (and all other sockets that need resources .. running this off the top of my head so forgive me if I can't remember them!)
I now buy schematics for my GP Modules because I surrendered Master Artisan, so I include the cost ofroughly 1/3 aschematic to the cost of the Droid. For this instance, we'll say 2,000cr.
I then assume I have no resources at all to build the droid, so I figure out what resource types I would need to purchase. For this R2 unit and all its subcomponents I would need:
Extrusive Ore: 3,000cr for 1k
Low-Grade Ore: 2,500cr for 1k
Chemical (fibreplast): 2,500cr for 1k
Steel: 3,000cr for 1k
Copper: 3,000cr for 1k
Obviously I'm not going to need 1k of each of these resources.. for a few them I'm not even going to need over 100, but thats irrelevant .. resources are sold (generaly) in 500 or 1000 sets, so thats the price you use when figuring out costs. Add up the total resource cost which (in this instance) comes to 14,000 cr. Add the cost for the GP module, the total cost for the droid comes to 16,000cr. Now add that 10,000 profit margin and the droid's overal price is 26,000cr.
To sum up, in this instance I'm selling the R2 unit for 26k. Thats about average. Now if you break down how I figured out the cost, I'm actually making a LOT more than 10,000cr in profit .. in reality, it hasn't cost me 16,000 to build the droid, its barely cost me over 2,000 ... so I'm actually making around 24,000 credits per-R2 unit at this price.
This is how everyone should price their droids (if they don't already). It's how things are priced in the "real world" and its how inflation and price changes come about. As resources get rarer and more expensive to buy, the droid becomes more expensive. As resources become cheaper, the droid becomes cheaper. When Player cities are in place and a Droid Engineer has cope with taxes, you can add a portion of that tax into the price of each droid to componsate (and thus the droid becomes more expensive).
Who was it that had the excel calculator? That was nice too...
I can't seem to find the post doing a /search. Can anyone help me?
Nevermind - here's the link:

you gotta love the DE forums, this is the same common sense stuff that continuelly gets re-hashed by the latest pricing post. If a DE wants to charge less than 20 to 1 for final end product top of the line droids fine, but you will have to less cash to spend and less time to use it. for time effieciency sake the general price window keeps a DE in the cash without making them bend over backwards to stay in business. use this window and find your niche but as a warning if you sell under this window you will have to sacrifice more time to stay afloat...and time is money
All models listed below have in them top end modules either 4x2 or lvl 5 or above. and a craft or repair mod, and are adv models
MSE, R5, Treadwell, DZ70: 4000 to 6000
R4: 7k to 10k
Repair: 8 to 12k
Surgical: 12k to 20k
Power: 25k
Probot: 7k to 15k
Probot ADV: 10k to 20k
R2: 20 to 30k
R3(not ADV) 30k to 35k
Protocol (not adv) 15 to 25k
BLL 35 to 50k
Protocol ADV 25k to 40k
The prices may seem skewed but remember, the cool droids all require adv droid brains, and the cool factor has to be put in the price, lets not also forget, that most droids at the top will never be replaced. every r2 sale i get is my last from that customer 99% of the time. most have no reason to jump to r3's. well i hope for the best for fellow DE's good luck!
JonasBlackmore,
I really like your online calculator. I imagine I'll be using that regularly now.
