Hello i am a novice droid Eng on scylla , to date i have made many droids ...and as of today the data Nor the Storage modules work. on ANY droid. i have heard many reports, many suggestions, many rumors, and read hours of countless babbling of how droids should work..may i make one suggestion..if data and storage modules are the most basic of droid components. why not stop asking for grander things and let them actually do somthing to fix these and have them work as intended.. if they cant do that what makes you think they can actually fix other things such as the repair modules or the power droids or the ability to have more than one droid out at a time?

ive been playing this game as a casual gamer since it was released and have never seen such lack of Developer action in the 10 years i have been playing mmorpg's...ive dealt with sony since eq Beta i know how they work and think...this i would say is quite a failure. with the Duping of resources no wonder you guys got to master DE in a month. because there is no way in hell a casual gamer or even a moderate gamer can come up with the resources to bang out DE master as fast as many of you have. please dont get me wrong there are many who have worked Very hard with the help of Many friends. and my hats off to those who have. But if you keep asking for sony to do all this crazy stuff you will find yourself lost.. sony does what they want when they want and how they want.. input from the gamers helps them decide when and how to implement certain fixes and the such. the Probot nerf is par for the course with sony...the greedy cheaters thinking of a fast buck are the ones who caused that one you have only yourselves to blame.

Back to the issue at hand though. DE is in need of a Serious Revamp and sony knows it.. as for me i will continue to grind with my little MSE till my fingers fall off...but if you dont stop and get on them to fix the lil **edit** it will all be left in the dust as with the mana stone was in EQ....and every droid you make from now on will never have the once intended potiential of greatness they had in mind when they designed the game.

Think about what you ask. if they arent concerned about the data and storage modules working what else do they intend on never fixing?

I am with Puko, Please work on Probot fix. I Could careless about color or anything else atm. I would like to see something done with our useless Armor Modules. and Experimentation. I am at 3/3/3/4 and only have 1 point to experiment with what gives??

Naming protocal droids would be a good one too!

Also Bugs in change of Ownership, Where you get a droid from a trade in and you regiveit the commands to give it a new name, And everytime you go to use group it changes back to old name! This is a pain. The only work around is to type out the FULL name and Command everytime. you can not shorten the command by just programing it to group.

LE/Adv Repair Droids Not working right with repair Module in it.

Holocron guideI think is important too.

We need to see a response from the DEVS of the previous top 5 lists. They do not need the excuse to work on any other issue until they have resolved the initial 10 items. We should stand firm as a profession and ask them for results before proceeding to the next 5.

One issue I have(and this applies to all 'elite' craft skills) is that, though it states that we can get all we need through the engineer tier in artisan, we have to have master artisan to make droids as early as intermediate BP(BP1).

My suggestion is to move GP uniths, control units, memory modules and everything else required for elite proffesions to Engineering IV and replacing them with another desirable, yet not required item to still encourage people to make master artisan.

My 2 credits...

There shouldn't be a problem repeating an issue in the weekly pick list if its important. Saying that it was reported one week and not wanting it brought up another is quibbling. Modules not working should be brought up often and vociferously untilthe problemis addressed, for example.

Development needs to comment. Sintrosi (or whomever), compiling issues and sending them into the ether is like patting someone on the head and reciting platitudes. It's an exercise in futility. It's not areflection on Sintrosi or any other correspondent; it is just a fact of life that people who have been 'disappointed', 'jilted' or what have you need hand holding. A small show of concern does wonders. SOE to a lot of us has done a great deal to merit our DISTRUST and suspicion. Fulfilling a simple request- acknowledging the things we have mentioned are valid issues- would go a long way to rebuilding that trust.

Droids need to be persistent. The 'use' command on the deed is worthless. Tailors, architects, etc., can all display their wares; we should be able to do this as well and not have it count against our total # of droids. If there is some way around this, I would like to know how I can display my droids in my house.

Perhaps instead of just a straight top pick list, it should be subdivided into 'wishlist' and 'buglist'. There are so many great ideas that have been circulated, perhaps we can encourage the devs to pick some from each list to focus on if we consolidate things into more specific groupings. =)

On a personal note, the grind is killer. I work at a high tech company in a challenging job and when I go home I work on SWG. Mind you, it takes dedication, but the gyrations we need to go through to get 2 extrusive ore and 1 non reactive gas and 3 tribbles that are pink (kidding) should merit a greater XP bounty than it currently does.

Happy DE-ing!

Probots with 800 HAM wouldn't be so bad if the droid armor actually worked.

Right now I am doing the same as most novice droid engineers, neglecting all the other skills and just grinding advanced droid frames to be able to build probots. Although they are nerfed, they are the only droid that can still be sold for a decent amount of cash (though still far short of what architects and creature handlers can sell their wares for).

I have noticed that more people are asking for droids with crafting and medical modules now. Not every droid request is a newbie wanting a probot anymore. A DZ70 with a good medical module are useful to doctors and medics. I also think that floating droids like the DZ70 are less vulnerable to path finding problems (e.g. getting stuck on a rock) than the wheeledmodels like the "R" droids, can anyone confirm this?

BTW. Do you really think that compiling lists like this will help? It doesn't seem like droid issues are a priority for the support team at the moment. Look on the list of droid fixes on the testing center, not much there. I would love to connect tonight and see a bunch of good droid fixes but I doubt it. More likely we will see something like...

Update NotesFriday August 8th:

We have fixed the problem with the droid data modules... by removing droid data modules from the game.

Fixed a problem with using multiple crafting modules in the same droid... DEs can now only install one crafting module in a droid.

Thesillydifference between the HAM of the DZ70 and the Probot has been corrected... Probots now have 50 HAM. This will also address the issue with the Probot being the only droid in the game that is sellable (now none of them are).

Decreased the experience from creating MSE droids, manipulator arm sets, and advanced droid frames.

Changedthe maximum number of droids storedin a datapad to 2.

Image designers can now createhair for 3PO droids.

Droids now show up in the "clothing / jock-strap" section on Bazaar.

Droids can now only be called in the cantina.

Droids now require regular power and maintenance, similar to large harvesters.

Improved server stability.

The XP grind is fine.In fact, I am of the belief it should have been harder. The only thing I'dsuggest inthe next submission in regards to xp/grindingwould be the variety of what you are working on and the possibility of selling useful items.

There is no reason why becoming the master of your profession should take you any shorter amout of time than it does now. I'm not comparing the time for Master DE against Master Whatever. Who cares if the other classes advance at a faster rate? Certainly not me.

With one factory, 5 medium mineral harvesters, 1 solar, 1 medium chemical I did surprisingly well in the grind.

Take note those of you who need a bit of direction. This plan does not involve duping (sheesh), friends, or any other outside source other than a bit of dedication. Sure it is expensive to purchase these things but do missions. Missions are way to easy to get cash.

My daily routine was to do enough missions each morning to pay my harvesters. I would do 10-16 destroy missions and go to the bazaar to purchase any extra power I needed (from resource shifting to adding more harvesters).

I would then make my harvester runs. I would make sure each harvester had 1800 power (36 hours) and 3000 maint (50 hours). This would take me about 1 to 2 hours depending on the locations.

With materials in hand I would determine how much XP needed I needed to advance a box for that day. If I were short of materials I would do missions until I got enough cash for the materials needed and buy them from the bazaar at no more than 3cr/unit. You may get lucky and find a wholeseller hawking his materials for 2cr/unit. My last week of grinding I found some such person. Lucky me.

Afterwards I would either grind out materials or construct droids for my vendor. I kept at least 3 of my best selling droids at all times on my vendor, whether it be MSE (adv)'s or Surgical's.

Sure, money was tight. resources even tighter. But with a little effort you can do it. The casual gamer will have a tougher time at it for a number of reasons including having to deal with resource shifting, not enough time to play, etc. That is the price you pay for not being able to play as much as someone else. Sorry, no fix for that.

Eventually you will get to the point where you want to be. Be it just enough to make Probots or Master DE. Don't complain about the xp grind because you can't seem to get through it. It wasn't meant to be easy. Hell, like I said before, its too easy.

Even while grinding MSE's I was amazed at how fast I advanced. If the clicking bothers your fingers maybe a short macro will help you get past a few screens. I used one just to open my tool and select a blueprint for me. This in itself saved loads of time and relieved the stress on my twitch-factor.

Eventually you'll get there. Getting there first isn't the prize. Just getting there at all should be your concern.

Oh, and Probots. Whatever. Quit whining that you'll never make any money off them. Sell another droid for Pete's sake.

You also had the huge advantage of full xp from your factory.

This isn't an option any longer.

I just got my factory and am not making any xp from it... so I can only use it for parts to assemble other stuff.

The macro to start a crafting session and select a mouse droid is a must for the grind. It's so much easier.

Could you guys please post the macro you are using? I can't find crafting macros anywhere on the web and the macro tool in game has no documentation so its hard to figure out.

I have a sinking feeling that they're using a 3rd party program, which is a no no. Careful guys. You get caught, and your account is banned.

UPDATE:

In case any of you missed it, SOE wants me to hold up on report until they can respond to the first two, which they said would be the latter part of next week. SO this thread will stay open for next week as well.

The things that get me are, as follows:

1) There is no way to see what features a droid will have when you look at the deed or the droid. This way you can see what the droid has BEFORE you try to decide if it is worth the credit you're being asked to pay.

2) I just paid to have two craft stations put into a droid and only one works. I trust that both craft stations were put in my droid (despite #1) just because the person who crafted the droid seemed genuinely stressed out that the droid wasn't behaving properly.

3) Droid behaviour is unreliable. Sometimes it takes orders, sometimes it just sits there. Sometimes it walks thru walls, other times it gets hung in them.

4) Behavior chip doesn't have a slide bar. At minimum, there should be someway to trigger the droid saying things. Optimally, a player should be able to set how often he wants to have the droid exhibit it's personality. So far, in playing with my droid, I've only seen it say one thing. I'd like to see more.

5) Storage window doesn't work and beyond dragging and dropping, there is no "give" command that I've found. I've also heard that the droid doesn't allow you to carry more than your capacity. If true... that will be another peeve.
