Thread: Market Saturation Point Reached Sales back down to Attrition Rates

My sales are almost exclusively "custom" droids, and I think that any DE who relys on vendors stocked with "popular" models is just not going to do well in the long run. I get to know my customers and educate them about what droids can do for them BESIDES what they are buying one for. This almost always doubles (or more ) my sales to a particular customer. And sales continue steadily on.

I, for one, do not favor droid "decay". I don't want my own pride and joy's to have to be "scrapped" regularly.Combat droids certainly need repair and replacement. Repair kits, Customization kits, and Batteriesare keeping a steady flow of "new" money coming into my business. Frankly, there isnt really anything in the game for me to spend my credits on (except resources, power and maintenance for the business), so the "fresh" income isnt such a priority.I'd rather craft new droids for customers rather than have to continually craft the SAME droids over and over and over and over for the same customers as they wear out and want them replaced(the droids that is).

I'm in this for the droid-building, and it is always more enjoyable to craft a new type/combination of droid than to simply "bang out" the same exact ones I crafted a month ago, beacause those ones are now decayed. "Same droid, same colors, same modules, please" they will ask for. ugh.

As a customer, I have to say I'm more than happy with all my new Droids. The new combat droids are awesome. I've go an R2 combat, aswell as a probot, for the lightning graphic (I hope they fix this as you only see the graphic perhaps 1:20). I also have a harvest/trap droid, who is as amusing as he is useful, plus a few crates of survey droids.(quick plug for Oroo, Corbantis)

I suspect the Devs know that people can get as attached to their droids as CH do their pets, so I'm wondering if that is part of the equation in making the droids virtually immortal. If they made modules that could fit in an existing droid, they could have decay on the modules to a much higher extent. This would provide repeat orders without killing off somebody's favourite droid. I'm not suggesting an ability to swop different modules, otherwise people would only buy one chassis, but exchanging like for like.

I don't know what your selling, or if your selling crappy slapped together droids, but I sold over 800K in droids in 24 hours yesterday ANDI don't want to sell anymore. I can't keep upwith demand on the harder to make droids as it is (especially R3's configured several different ways). The market hasn't seemed to have peaked here yet at all. It is much much much better than it was prior to this patch. I have to agree with a lot of the other posts. It must have to do with location primarily and reputation next.

I have found the same situation. For one thing, all the grinders who jumped in and made tons of droids to sell, helped flood the market with them and sold them cheap...far too cheap. The grinding continues to hurt us all.

Now, I see players advertising that they have all these droids left over on their vendors cheap...while they are no longer DEs. When will it ever end? Seems like every profession is or has been hurt by grinding.

Dude... Give me a break. I've been in business since the launch. I have a stockpile of the best resources that has every spawned on Eclipse... I can cap the limit on every stat on my droids. Open your eyes and realize that yes, there are some YOUNG servers where the player base isn't about 90% triple masters and have yet to experience the market trends that Eclipse does.

Well, time to park this thread. It's just turning into a yada yada fest. Point has been made. TK is on the job. Enough said.

AO, you know this fake superiority of yours and over compensating looking down your nose at everbodyis getting old. It's not hard to see through this BSto some huge chip you have on your shoulder. I've gotten into some scraps here myself but you seem to be trying to pick a fight on every single thread you post on. I have no idea what it is, but do you mind leaving it at the door when you come to the forum?

Arden, from your other responses in this thread I'm going to assume you were having a bad day.

If from my entire post above the only thing you found to comment on was my initial reaction to your pompous declaration, I guess you didn't have any real points for discussion after all.

I'm sorry if I offended you - but it was a joke. Saying that the market would die down was pretty obvious - as I said above, it would be like me posting today "The sun is gonna set tonight guys...and tomorrow, it will rise again!" and then coming back the next day to proclaim how right I was. Again, as I said above, so what?

Here you come into the form spouting "The market is dead" and "I TOLD YA SO!". If that isn't a false superiority I really don't know what is - especially since many of the people who have posted have seemed to disagree with your conclusions.

I simply provided an alternate viewpoint here, one you have yet to counter. Perhaps this is a viewpoint on the situation that you didn't want to see? If you are having a hard time selling droids, let people help you who are selling droids and who have many happy customers who thank us constantly. If you'd read what people have said in this thread from a more objective position I bet you could get a lot of info to help you market and sell these droids you are unable to which led to your posting this thread in the first place.

When you come in here telling me my profession is in trouble and I don't believe it to be so, I think it's perfectly valid for me to post about it.

Now, Arden, that you have gotten your personal insults out of the way - we have established you don't like my personality, but do you have a real response to what I (and others) have said to you in this thread to back up your claims?

Or are you going to continue pouting and lashing out against people? The only replies to the original posting you have made have been raging flame-fests or comments that have nothing to do with your original statements.

Should we assume that the whole thread was just a big whine/flame since you have yet to actually discuss the topic past a few pithy generalizations that many people don't seem to agree with? Yes, we need decay...but other than that many people are finding many uses for these new droids, both combat and utility - I think you just need help finding the right customers.

I don't feel I have to counter your arguments. Your in the minority here. Just scroll back and count up the other people's post. Even TK posted and is seeing declining sales. Sorry, but I don't feel like satisfying your aggressive need for debate so stop attempting to bait me. I'm too old and too tired for it. Go work out your frustrations on someone else. All I want out of this is condition decay on droids addressed which as per TK's post, will be done. And that's not just condition decay on combat droids but all droids.

Um, I don't think you are right.

I AGREE that we need decay on utility droids and any two-year old could have told you that sales woudl slow after a few weeks.

I simply disagree with you as to the state of our other modules, which is what my entire reply was about and which you have refused to address.

I'm not "baiting" you, I think your original post was pretty much a prime example of that- I just was looking for you to back up your statements and to have an actual discussion on the topic. My mistake for thinking you were posting to have a discussion, not just to hear yourself type. You've replied to me twice yet said nothing about the actual content of my posts.

Again, I apologize if you took offense to my joke - but come on, would anyone really need an MBA to be able to say "after the initial boon there will be a slowdown?" It's the way of an MMO. It's a shame you ignored everything else I said, because maybe it could have helped you since you seem to be having such a hard time selling droids.

I'm not the one frustrated here, Arden : You are - which is why I assume you posted. I just attempted to offer another way to look at and deal with things - and you lash out like a caged animal.

Next time I'll know better and just /nod and /smile.

Today I was waiting for a transport when somone beside me asked me to DB him (he was overt and wanted to shake that off). I have no combat skills, so I whipped out my R3 (which has 5 combat and 1 crafting station) and instructed my droid to fight him. He had a vibro knuckler so im sure he was a TKA although im not sure what level he was. He did not use any specials. He did not move away from my droid, so he was basically doing auto-attacks on my droid. My droid survivied with half of its HAM still intact.

There were two other people waiting by the shuttle besides us two, and they both were amazed at how quickly my R3 defeated this guy. Needless to say, I got two orders for that exact droid

There are allot of people who are still not familiar with how good combat droids are now. I've found that whenever I show off the capabilities of my droids, I almost always get someone to buy one.

You guys watch, after the CB people will be knocking on our door for even more combat droids because it will be harder to solo.

Just for the info, Vibro knuckler doesn't mean at all that he was a TKA.
Speed sliced VK help alot unarmed brawler, even without cert, but they still do far less damage than a TKA.

Listen, Kauri has been around since launch. If you aren't making any credits, you are doing something wrong. Before patch 8 I had 5 mil credits, currently I havealmost 14mil credits. Something was done right in the last patch and your just way to negative to ever see that.

I am not arguing that some kind of decay should be put into droids, hey that is just more business for me. Your attitude has always beensuper negativegoing back months. I can understand the attitude 3 months ago, but after patch 8 your complaints are a bit unfounded. Just because we didn't get the super lvl 50 battle droids DE's only can use , you choose to bash all the bonuses we did get last patch. Bad form and your either lying or trying to stir up trouble.
