Thread: DE's I need two things from you please
1. Agree.
2. Ok as step 1 in 1000.
3. Changes to the plan: see the post in my signature as to some of the other 999 steps (I'd like you to read mine especially of course
but they'reALL great ideas here).
lol whoops! Let me try this again ![]()
1. Agree
2. Disagree... Only because I feel we should get more of an explaination of the "plan". As it stands I believe it is too vague for me or anyone elseto be able to offer an opinion on it let alone agree or disagree with it.

There needs to be more usefull things for droids to do for certain professions.
What things and which professions?
What items seem like the most important and which professions have interdependencies that are a lot of fun?
What entertains you folks?
When it says only DE will be able to use these combat modules do you mean that only DE will be able to asemble these modules or that only DE will be able to use combat droids of any form?
Which would you prefer and why?
Ok...
Nearly every profession should be able to gain a benefit from a droid. In the movies you see R2D2 slicing the computers of the Death Star, Cloud City, and the Milenium Falcon. Why can't droids be made to assist Smuglers in slicing?
Master Musicians and Dancers could use a Droid"Jukebox" for backup. How about letting us make a droid for those entertainers which they can program to either follow along with them (the Musician) or play solo while they dance (the Dancer). This can be benificial for those playing solo late at nite when noone else is on.
Bio Engineers could use a droid to assist in DNA smapling. Or at the very least a droid that will help locate the critter they want to sample. Maybe modified versions of the Bounty Hunter droids.
Crafters already have the benefit of mobile crafting stations, even though they are not as effective as what an Architect can make.
Combat droids are available but inneffective. So the combat types don't buy or use them.
Medics are pretty well coverred with the droid options available.
Chefs... What about robobartenders for them. They can sit in the cantina and the robobartender can be stocked with drinks and foodstuffs, by the player chefs, for sale. Obviously the Player Chef would have to be in the vicinity. In fact make them register at the location or they can't use it. They'd also need a system message if the robobartender runs out of stock.
I can think of more but this stuff is mostly already out there, primarilly on the concerns and ideas threads.
What excites me? Making a better product through experimentation (which right now I cannot do because Experimentation has no apreciable effect on our product) and sales (which don't happen as much because the droids worth buying don't work like they should, ie combat droids last 2 seconds in combat andtheir armor isuselesss in PvP, repair and power droids do not do what they are meant to do like repair and power)
As for the question about combat modules... The question arises because of the wording of the proposal. I take it to mean that only DEs will be able to craft these modules and only DEs will be able to install them into anything. That's fine, so long as it doesn't mean that non DEs won't be able to use droids with combat modules in them (which I think you adress in the post I'm quoting). The idea for us is to craft something we can sell. We can't sell it if people can't use it. I want to be able to sell to any player a droid that I have placed a combat module into andfor them to be able to use that droid. No DE only droids.
That's all for now... I'm seeing swirling colors... been up all night... nap time.
I am not a DE but I only use droids so i guess i should give my .02 creds
1. I would like to see droideka
They should not be very difficult as all the mechanics are there.
2. I would like to see the IG-88 model to become a combat droid.
There is an IG-88 model floating around that is seen as a bounty hunter trainer if you could turn that into a dorid i would love that,
1. I agree with Sintrosi's plan.
2. Your plan has some good points, but as a crafter and more importantly a businessman, we need a viable source of return income. Read the threads in this forum and you will get the hint of what we want.
1. I agree with Sintrosi's State of the Profession Post.
2. What plan? I dont see a plan. I see a bunch of delay tactics. I dont see any hard dates or solid decisions.
1. I would stop making plans and start doing something....
We've been making plans since week 1, how about we do work now?
1. Agree
2. Agree, in general
I would like to see modules limited on droids. There is no reason a MSE should do whatever a R2 can.
I would like to see return business on all droids, not just for coloring. I'm not an artist, i'm an artisan.
I would like my BLL, ADV BLL, and Protocol droid to be able to do SOMETHING.
2) Yes sort of with a few changes as stated by most people.

Which crafting professions more or less work? Weaponsmiths, definitely, and armorsmiths to a lesser extent. Chefs would, if they weren't bugged (those who use food can tell you how valuable it is...er, was, when it worked). And of course medics.
Why? Because they have consumable craftables. Their products get used up over time, creating a constant demand for their products.
The two big-ticket non-consumable classes, Architects and Droid Engineers, suffer from no repeat business.
So what could be done? Some sort of valuable consumable would be perfect.
Droid Engineers could make use of a Surveying type robot, similar to Bounty Hunter Seekers. They go out and report the closest location of a particular density in a particular direction. Their success could be dependent on the user's Survey skill. This sort of item would be valuable to all those miners out there, and since it's consumable, there'd be a constant demand.
That, and perhaps an assassin type droid. It'd do a set amount of damage (a Kamikaze MSE is but one incarnation of this), and is used up. Perhaps different types do different damage - blast for explosive, poison type assassins, etc.
Droids to maintain harvesters that are consumables - send them out, they add the maintanence, and they're used up.
As for Architects...what about defensive setups for combat types - like a gun stand for riflemen, or portable walls to provide cover/concealment. Or even allowing them to build turrets and defensive facilities.
