Thread: TK (and others,) a different look at the battery/decay idea

I think the power core idea is the best I've heard. I think that all droids should have an optional "power" module, either a battery module (which would be very costly to make) or a Power core (which would be very cheap to make). Droids with power cores would basically be disposable, although owners could have the power core replaced by a Master DE for a sufficient fee, while droids with battery modules could be recharged by the owner.

I also believe that combat droid effectiveness should be increased significantly, however, with droid permadeath reintroduced. "Dead" droids could be reactivated by a DE however.

I think that people should have the ability to keep the same droid for as long as they like, BUT, at the cost of having to have the Droid engineer maintain the droid. We're droid engineers, as the trainers always say "There is nothing like a busted R2 unit to remind you what is important in life". We ARE and SHOULD BE the droid builders as well as the repairmen and I think just as much of our profit should come from droid repair and upkeep as from actual droid sales.

I would LOVE to have customerscoming to my shop and asking me to repair their best friends, and then coming back to me when they decide they'd like a new one.

Hmmm, I'd prefer the reconstruction kits were given this capability rather than 4 more schems (A-D)to clutter our already disorganized, badly categorizedand long schematic list. Since they are already DE usable only, yet I doubt any DE in SWG has ever finished using one stack of them, it would make them useful at least.

Hmmm....reconstruction kits healing both Vitality and wounds? I guess that could fly. It might be easier, code-wise, since there's that much stuff less to put together to make this fly.

I'll have to see how that might go...

One problem that might arise with using Reconstruction Kits as a Vitality restore device is that they would need to be made for use by anyone, otherwise there would be a lot of upset customers that wouldn't be able to restore their own droids vitality. I would rather see a kit that is added, that uses the same resoruces and parts as one of the other DE parts already in existence. When the kit was added, thecrafting tool menu could be updated to include additional categories, like droid repair tools.

I would rather see the loss of droid HAM and damage, rather than the loss of module functions. If storage and crafting stations were tied into battery status, all droids would need to be recharged and would be effect by a battery/vitality system, as has been mentioned.

A possible compromise to the power core/ battery issue could be a DroidPower Generator. The DPG would be a DE crafted item, using a Power Core or other assorted items, that would charge a droid for a longer period of time then a Droid Battery. The DPG would have two experimentation fields - 1 for charge life and 1 for number of charges. What I had in mind was a max charge life of 1000% and a max usage of 100. One draw back to using a DPG on a droid is that it takes 1 Vitality point loss for each time the DPG is used on it.

A suggested use to make the Power Droid more useful, would for it to have the same function as the DPG, but without the Vitality point loss.

Making SWG more Star Warsy. One droid at a time.
