By making it Structure Module/Power Droid specific, we give the Power Droid a very well defined role and give a 'valid' reason for the Power Core used during the crafting process.
By making power function credit based, we make it 'easier' to code and create a credit sink that specificly targets well to do crafters.
From a DE and Droid Owner stand point, it would appear to be a win-win situation.

Drashk, I am a littly fuzzy on your input.
So you are saying that if I send a Power Droid with a level 3 Structure Maint mod (that works :smileywink
out to a Harvestor. I would have the option too just pay 2 Credits for every 1 point of power? Would this be a limited amount, or unlimited? Would it hurt the Droid?
If it was an unlimited amount, and didn't hurt the Droid, the ratio would have to be a lot higher. Maybe 5:1 or even 10:1. Otherwise there would be no point in radioactive energy anymore. Currently power sells for about 1.5 - 2 cpu. For pure convieniance sake, people would only use the Droids.
It needs to be pricey enough that it is a real credit sink, or an emergency (or lazy,) measure only. The prefered means of power must always be actually using power.

While I agree that something should be changed to make Power Droids more used/desired, I'm not sure this is it.
Example:
I run several Heavies.
When I need to put in power, I just dump 50-100k in one and leave it alone for.....??
A very very long time.
That example totally negates the need for such a change and I can't imagine that other crafter/miners don't just do the same. Money is so easy to come by now, that dumping an insane amount of energy into a harv. likely isn't that big of an issue for anyone that wants to avoid the need to add it for a long time.
Now....to put a spin on this idea....
What if the power droid affected the 'effeciency' of a harvester, such that using one was like a 'buff' to the BER rating?
