If the point of having a droid is to assist you, then the point of only giving you a skill boost in areas where you don't get a boost

No. The idea is to use them where you can't heal at all. Remember, you can only call them in camp, but they can follow you around after you break camp. Just be careful not to draw any aggro since the beasties might go after your droid as well.

Medical modules allow you to heal wounds (With a medic skill) outside of a campsite/hospital/home... (Only exception being the cantina.)

A surgical droid with a level 6 medical module is NO DIFFERENT from an with a level 6 medical module.

The presence of a droid DOES NOT reduce mind cost when healing or tending wounds, and the "medical capability" rating appears to be a percentage... so a 35 capability would allow you to heal 35% as well as if you were in a campsite or hospital (level 1), and a 110 would do 110% better (level 6 module, or stacked modules.)

More than likely your problem was batteries, but it's tough to say without knowing the exact circumstances.

I just pulled my bot from the my datapad and was in a hospital and my healing was worse then when it was stored. If he can't make me get a better skill it doesn't do me a lot of good, I rarely do missions anymore as I have to keep mining to support my droid habit. I only have about 20 - 50 pts of wound damage but still I was looking to get my healing done faster and hoped that the bot would help out while I was in the hospital healing.

Oh well I guess I can tell people what Sony sees as the "real" vision for Medical assistance.

Low level medical bots hamper you in the hospital rather than aid you. If it bothers you think of it this way; a surgeon would never use the equipment issued to a paramedic in the middle of a hospital. They would use the far superior equipment that the hospital has to offer. A low level medical droid is pretty much the equivalent of a paramedic's equipment.

What I wish they would do is program the system so the doctor at least behaves 'intelligently' in healing. If the medical droid is going to hamper them then it just gets ignored and adds atmosphere. As a doctor you're out the money you spent on the unit and its still mainly useless to you, but at least it doesn't hamper you and you can have it out and running about for effect.

If you want to get a medical droid that will give you a bonus while you are in the hospital, bite the bullet and plunk down the credits for something with a Med VI module. They will actually increase your healing rate by 10%, or so I've been told.

Oh Waaaaah!! Your vision is obstructed by your own lack of logic.

Let's say you break your arm or stab yourself in the eye or get a gerbil stuck in your butt or whatever and have to go to the hospital. Are you going to get there and insist on using the first-aid kit you have in the trunk of your car? If you did, the quality of your care will drop substantially just as it does in-game. The medical centers have the very best facilities available and can give that 100% bonus whereasghetto field equipment will hinder your use of the better equipment available.
