Here's some of the data from the resource_tree.iff file from the client.
Resources

You can see some of the minimum types, pools (an instance of a resource on a planet) for some minerals. as you can see, there is a minumum of 15 types of iron.

Overall there is a Max number of resource Types of 503, and a Minimum of 510 (I know, I know, that's what it says). Chilastra had 535 resources right now according to SWGCraft, but some of them could be old.

For Inorgancis it's a Max of 126 and a Minimum of 80.

Please, tell me... what is the point of ratcheting down spawn rates to a stagnant level? Even with how they used to be? Why should it take a month to three months for a week spawn of a particular named resource. That may or not be of any acceptable quality.

If the DEVs are serious about improving the economy, they should make the mined resources more available. Instead, they made them less available and increased the monster spawns for loot/creature harvesting. While this may have a direct benifit for players that purchase these items because the supply is up, but the BASE resources' supply is down. These resources that are used to make items are just down.

If they want to reduce the economic levels, they need to increase spawns. Why can't we have 2 to 3 choices on EACH type of resource. Make it readily available to a lot of people. It would help everyone out sooo much and would definately ease the strain on New Players trying to enter the system. I am not saying that every spawn has to be perfect quality, but it at least gives a chance for 900+ quality once in 10 tries (without adding in base quality rates... like copper typically has a better CD because copper is a good conductor). It just makes more sense this way. I mean come on. On Sunrunner I just checked for our precious tollium reactive gas and there has not been a half way decent spawn (OQ 650 +) in 5 months! 5 Months of no half-way decent resources! Before then, it was last March when the next closest good quality gas was available.

Here is the big trend that I saw. According to SWGCraft.com, it appears that Tollium Reactive gas spawned frequently 300-450 days ago. In fact, 80-85% of the Tollium Reactive gas (based on a rough estimate) was available during that time. Since then, there have been 4 spawns. FOUR SPAWNS of Tollium Reactive Gas in the last 10 months! Only one of which was good quality.

According to my math. That is a spawn every 2.5 months. With only one good quality spawn every 10 months! That is ridiculous. Not only do we need decent quality gas to make our Det Droids, we also have to compete with CM for the stuff.

That is my proof right there about how spawns is screwed up.

This is why if another spawn of Tollium Gas pops up that has an OQ of 800+, I will charge nothing less than 100k per R3 Detonation Droid. Period. If I get some of the old spawns somehow, I will charge more.

Jenden, I know we have a lot of problems that need to be fixed with our droids, but this is more than just a localized issue. This is something that has really hurt people and the economy IMO. Stagnant Resource spawns have definite economic effects and can ruin economies.

Compare this to Oil. What happens when Oil Production drops 50%? Prices skyrocket. People can't afford Gas. People buy less. It is a determental cycle to the economy.

Is there a legend for that chart? Is this single galaxy, or across all galaxies? Or is this just to assist in probability calculation of a single resource being "good"?

No offense, and I really do mean it; but I have no idea what this means.

The only legend would be the titles at the top.
That is only a part of the content of the datatables/resource_tree.iff file from the game files (the whole thing it too big to show). It defines the maximum and minimum number of types of any particular resource, the amount of occurrences of resources. Also the types of attributes (HR, OQ, DR etc) a resource will have, also the maximum and minimum values on those attributes for a resource type. And so on.

I posted it as it shows an example of the number of resources to be expected in the world (it would apply to every galaxy). For example there has to be a minimum of 15 Irons, and all the JTL resources must be in the world, etc.
It wouldn’t assist in probability of resource quality though, as that is done server-side, other than to show that there is a lower pool of resources to get some quality out of.

Lets not go into the economic ramifications of scarcity, this isn't the place for it (there's a nice business and economy forum for that). There does need to be some scarcity, otherwise the value of more complex items plumets. That's the whole point of having named/specificresources in schematics anyway.

However, there does seem to be a problem with resource spawning as Drashk pointed out which should be corrected. Having good resources to produce goods is a product of time and patience. This is how those who have been around longer differentiate themselves from a new master.

The Gas spawn is 'whack' on Tarquinas right now too.

It took me 5 weeks of dedicated surveying before I ever saw Tollium. Im well stocked, for now.

I just hope the fix isnt long term.
